Find some horror specific critics. Pretty niche genre. Also, don't obsess over numbers that are the result of aggregation. They're a helpful, convenient overview if you wanna peep something, but they're not explanatory in reverse. On a critical level, I'd call a lot of Friday the 13th movies laughable s---. I still enjoy them all the same. They're incidentally hilarious, tonally inconsistent, brutal, absurd, silly, etc. A beautiful trainwreck. I can point to critically valuable things like witnessing a franchise shift creative hands so often and how that transforms the material or what constitutes a "mean k---" versus an "earned k---" in the horror genre, etc, but I don't need those arguments to defend my appreciation of them. I'd rather rather watch a s-----y 80s camp slasher any day than let a universally lauded snore-teur like Alexander Sokurov put me to sleep.

Critics are wrong when they disagree with me.

Critics go more in depth with whatever they're reviewing. They pay attention to certain things that a casual viewer or listener probably wouldn't or wouldn't care about.
