I'm convinced that majority of the members here are not true hip hop/Em fans. The Em we have on No Favors is the closest to old Em that I've heard in years. All of the complaints I'm hearing are about the multiple flow changes, random topics, and bring off beat. THATS EXACTLY how old EM RAPPED. Listen to k--- You or Marshall Mathers. You all aren't true EM fans and don't appreciate the different styles he brings to the rap game

My issue with No Favors is that it just seemed lazy. The stop and go flow on this track, specifically, sounds just like the stop and go flow on Campaign Speech. Meaning to me, he recorded it the same way - acapella - and gave it to Big Sean to just throw it on some random beat. And it sounded that way. It sounded lazy and just wrong, and just overall out of place.

I have no real problem with the content of the verse, I appreciate the technicality of it, same way I do Campaign Speech - I just miss the days when he took his art seriously, all around. A true perfectionist (as everyone he's worked with claims he is) would never release something as halfassed as this was.

I can forgive him if he just did this for the feature. That's fine. But if this lazy s--- is what his next album will be like, it won't be forgivable by many people. No one wants him to just record acapellas on his spare time and hand them over to producers to build beats around. That method is lazy and inexcusable unless the artist is dead, obviously.

But for Eminem? It's lazy. Something everyone says he's not.

I get your point but I think we're all missing the point of what EM is doing. His rapping style, content, nasal inflection tone, and overall rapping approach is as close to vintage Marshall Mathers LP EM that we're going to get. The acapella offbeat raps are all over the work from that era. Listen to Who Knew, k--- you, Remember Me, Under the Influence, etc. I wouldn't call what he did lazy but more of a throwback to when he wasn't as experienced of an artist. Is the EM you're missing more from the 8mile/Eminem show days? His flow was flawless then

EM is going back to the original EM for this album. Think about it. The Marshall Mathers LP is the fastest selling album of his career and it's clear he's going back to a truer form of that era than he did on MMLP2. The rhythms, attitude, inflection and tonality of his voice. The EM on No favors is not the flawless flowing EM of Eminem Show/8mile and even Recovery. It's more of a return to the f--- you style of his original days and speaking about current events/politics. I'm curious to see what he does with it

What's wrong with new Em? Saying what's good about him would be easier, because it would be very short list.

Well Guma, what EM era are you comparing him to? It's easy to make a statement by not backing it up with legit points. This is the closest to original EM that I've heard but EM has changed his style MULTIPLE times throughout his career

Devil's Night era is prime Em. So compared to it he looks like a turd.

He had wit, creativity, focus, & actual content back in his earlier days. Now he doesn't.

    You say a verse containing:

"It may be disturbing, what I'm saying's cringeworthy
    But I'm urinating on Fergie!
    "

"And f--- Ann Coulter with a Klan poster
With a lamp post, door handle, shutter
    A d--- bolt cutter, a sandal, a can opener, a candle, rubber
Piano, a flannel, sucker, some hand soap, butter
    A banjo and manhole cover
Hand over the mouth and nose smother
Trample ran over the tramp with the Land Rover
The band, the Lambo, Hummer and Road Runner
    "

Is exactly how his stuff was in his prime. Couldn't be farther from the truth. Listen more closely to his SSLP/MMLP/8 Mile/TES verses - the old s--- is much, much better.

Sean presents him with a song about coming up and succeeding without any handouts from anyone (a subject Em loves to rap about) and Em's brain just goes "talk about Ann Coutler and Klan posters". This is concerning.

I never said his prime, I said MMLP days. You're saying that what you just quoted is that far from this in k--- you?

I'm triple platinum and tragedies happen in two states
I invented violence, you vile venomous volatile b------s
    Vain Vicadin, vrinnn Vrinnn, Vrinn!
Texas Chainsaw, left his brains all
Danglin' from his neck, while his head barely hangs on
    Blood, guts, guns, cuts
    Knives, lives, wives, nuns, sluts

    b---- I'm a k--- you! You don't want to f--- with me
Girls leave, you ain't nothin' but a slut to me
    b---- I'm a k--- you! You ain't got the balls to beef
We ain't goin' never stop beefin' I don't squash the beef

It's just what EM does. This new EM is a throwback to that EM, not the Eminem Show/8mile. I think the people here only like one style of EM and not the various different styles throughout his career

True but how many times has EM showed us that in recent years? It would be redundant if he did that and wouldn't fit with the vibe of his new album. This exactly the way the EM from 2000 would approach this feature

It wouldn't be redundant when that is the topic of the song. This isn't his new album; it;s a Big Sean song smh.

True EM fan as someone who knows his full catalogue and didn't jump on board in 2010. No Favors isn't his best feature but doesn't deserve the hate it's getting

No look at all the pre Recovery features he did. Airplanes, forever, drop the world. They all matched his overall Recovery attitude. Same with the pre MMLP2 features ( Here comes the weekend, Numb, Come on let's Ride, Symphony in H). Everything he does right now is a build up to his album

    Well, same s---. & yea
Not a fan of it but it was delivered much better, he was shittons more charismatic, & at the time what he did was new, a creative achievment. It actually packed a punch. New Favors verse is a stale, played out retread of his old s---.
Well yea obviously. Sure some fans do. Vast majority of bored fans aren't looking for something specific tho. Just an Eminem that knows how to be a good artist - that can write, flow, deliver, etc. well. One that can evolve as well.

He's been in an arrested development for the past 14 years, it's gettin boring seeing him rehash s--- over & over in different songs as each song is less & listenable. He's become a one trick pony & a shitton of ppl are bored of the trick.
