Sep 8, 2016On an album where Eminem portrays himself as Slim Shady (a misogynistic, "fa---- hating", drug taking, abusive, almost cartoonish like character), the final verse of Stan provides a rare insight into the real Marshall Mathers. He advises Stan to seek professional help for his depression and tells him to treat his girlfriend better. The funny thing about the song is he actually says I seen this one s--- on the news a couple weeks ago that made me sick and proceeds to briefly describe what happened to Stan and his girlfriend.
The entire album is tongue in cheek and Stan's final verse was so pivotal to understanding that the outlandish statements and scenarios in his songs are FANTASY and in no way should they be taken literally. The song is genius in the way it addresses fans and critics at the same time, without the blatantly obvious "I'm just playing..." at the end of it and makes it even funnier that people still didn't get what the album was about.

Even more genius than this is how on MMLP2 (the album where his 'past is catching up to him', precisely and literally on 'Bad Guy') it is strongly hinted that Matthew turned out to be gay.
("Irony's spectacular huh, Now who's a fa---- you punk?"
"This is for....Frank Ocean")
Eminem's homophobia and anti-f-- lines peppered throughout his career amplify the irony that the gay brother of Stan is the one to finally k--- him in real life (in context of the song)
And then a verse later even more inception is added in as Eminem makes it clear that Matthew and Stan act as symbols. That can be taken in many ways, again, with the supposed gay Matthew murdering Eminem.
Just really deep stuff
