Jun 18, 2016 Even when you take into account this album summarizes lots of influences and subjects of his previous albums i still can't help but feel the sum of its parts is something more, something newer. It wouldn't sit right with me if someone categorized this as a "career summary album" or a collection of his past strides. There's the rise of an entirely new persona and the devil of innovation this time takes seat in the details, or in other words: 1 + 1 = 3
Jun 18, 2016 never liked a full album enough to remember it just certain songs My favorite Kanye songs are flashing lights, heartless, can't tell me nothing, runaway can't think of the others
Jun 18, 2016 Well, there you have it. I dislike Jay Z enough to disregard most of his discography. Would you consider Jay better?
Jun 18, 2016 f---in christ my bad had to walk dog. Nah i'd say there were def plenty moments subtle changes in lyrical delivery in MBDTF (Power) & Yeezus (New Slaves). & yes this album has more of a wide pallette of emotions than his prev work but wouldn't say that's enough to be considered breaking new ground, its just a lil more variety, thats it & nah i wouldn't say its devoid of its own lil unique assets, but if i HAD to choose a Ye album, i'd say this one ties w/ Grad for standing out the least in terms of songs themselves. & yeah i get that. It def shows that he's matured a lil more since his prev work. I'd say that shows he evolved, but not that he broke new ground or innovated for his own niche or music in general.
Jun 18, 2016 Lyrically? Completely better than Kanye but jay z bores me so I'd much rather listen to Kanye yelling on a track or acting like Oprah or doing whatever weird s--- he's doing now
Jun 18, 2016 It's hard to explain but i really have the feeling new sounds aren't as innovative in this day and age as the subtlety and variety in which he paints the album's story.
Jun 18, 2016 Okay so you kinda agree with me on Jay Z... cus funny most people who dislike Ye seem to gravitate more towards Jay. Who your fav rappers bro? I'm just interested at this point, not even trying to argue lol
Jun 18, 2016 Neither rappers are bad I just think Kanye is incredibly over hyped here where I live no one even talks about him and that's saying a lot since Coachella fest is here I'm not a rap fan which is why I find the trends and stuff here so awkward. But if I had to listen to any rap it would be stuff like redman, ice cube, Eminem, dmx stuff like that. I'm a fan of genres like metal.
Jun 18, 2016 Ok lets just end the convo after you tell me your fav metal album. I'll try and check that out, just to open my worldview a bit. Maybe you're right, maybe we are awkward.
Jun 18, 2016 I don't think you'd like what I would lol just leave it at that my favorite album would probably be a deathcore album and no way someone can just jump into a genre like that and like it Awkward isn't the best word just idk two completely different worlds
Jun 18, 2016 Try it, i'm already familiar with the genre thanks to a friend. I'm assuming you know of Dying Fetus?
Jun 18, 2016 Haha my girlfriend loves them. My problem is I'm really really picky with music it takes a lot for me to like even half of an album. Like I can enjoy it but most likely won't end up keeping most tracks. I don't think I have a favorite metal album but two that come to mind that I played a lot a couple of weeks ago are Burn The Priest - Burn The Priest (self titled) Lamb of God - American Gospel One that I've been listening to at the gym lately as well is Infant annihilator - the palpable leprosy of pollution
