May 5, 2016 They really do though, and what's even more important is that the rapping on those albums make the production on those albums to another level, which is what Travis heavily lacks on Rodeo. Some features make it happen, (2 Chainz on 3500, one of the best verses last year). But then again, i love 90210, and i don't mind Travis on it, i like him quite a lot on the first half of the song and i LOVE the hook, but the last verse is just ok, and at that point i find myself focusing primarily on the production.
May 5, 2016 I cant say he's explictly stole any songs that im aware of, but that's not exactly what I had a gripe with anyways. I think he has his own sound but from what id heard people say of him I imagined a completely different sound and style going into rodeo. I loved the music but it was sort of expected ie. dark, atmospheric, electronic sound that I cant say hadnt been done before. That's it. But like I said I'll dive into his discog a lil more. That song @Mozes Rose posted was impressive tbr
May 5, 2016 Ehh I agree with all of this except I think second half of 90210 is one of the few times he perfectly rides the beat and adds to the song.
May 5, 2016 he's like a completely different artist before dbr lol that's another thing I like about him i.e his versatility. He can make somn like Oh My and Nightcrawler and at the same time make this-
May 5, 2016 what he lacks in rapping he makes up for it with his vocals. Would you listen to 90210 if it was only an instrumental? Also, "My granny called she said : travy you work too hard I'm worried you'll forget about me" is nothing but lazy songwriting to you? Cause i swear to god if thug said something like that @Narsh would b c-mming all over the place
May 5, 2016 Travis is like Drake in the sense that if you f--- with him you can get past his mediocre rapping but for the most part he doesn't add anything to the song. But I think being able to construct songs the way Travis does is where his genius shows, like from the interview where he talks about rapping with Kendrick you know he knows he isn't a very impressive rapper so I feel like on songs like 3500 he only put his emphasis on the hook and he let Future ride the beat for longer and knew that 2 Chainz' verse would blow the song out of the water.
May 5, 2016 Since I'm in stan mode rn might as well point out how much the beat improved from Spaghetti to Skyfall, where once again he added good vocals but let Thug go last knowing that it combined with his little touches would be better than what he could do alone.
May 5, 2016 Yeah that's why I don't wanna talk about Travis being renegaded because he tries to make the song perfect for the guest on it.
May 5, 2016 Eh I mean that logic's kind of a cop out, it's necessary to acknowledge his flaws otherwise you come across as an annoying stan.
May 5, 2016 i just cringe when people keep re-iterating how he got renegaded by every feature on rodeo. Like okay we get it, he's an extremely avg rapper but these songs- are better than any of those songs that has those features in terms of concept and story-telling and I would easily take them over every song on rodeo(except for maybe 90210)
May 5, 2016 I can see where you coming from, and there are points where i feel like Travis is really good, but at the same time i feel like some of the aspects on the beat could be supported by his rapping more My favorite part of the verse is probably the end I ain't knockin' n-----, I knocked the door down, for sure now Whole crew, I swear they counting on me Gold chains, gold rings, I got an island on me Houses on me, he got them ounces on him Holy father, come save these n----s, I'm styling on 'em Good lord, I see my good fortune in all these horses I'm driving too fast to stop, so all these signs, I ignore them Distant sky from north of the border, my chips is in order My mom's biggest supporter so now n----s support a n----- Are you talking about 90210 or whole album on the first sentence? Sure his vocals can make up the average rapping, but imo there's no way he can be on par with others who have fantastic rapping and vocals, and you probably don't think he is. Oh i think that part is definitely great, it's not just lazy songwriting, 90210 is Travis at his best on most aspects on the album imo.
May 5, 2016 im saying he has moments where he shines on both song-writing and vocals. SUUUUUUURE there are artists out there who have incredible vocals and fantastic lyricism to go along with it and those artists are definitely OBJECTIVELY better. And here is where preference comes into play. I like his vocal delivery and production more than say, thugger so obviously i f--- with trav more. And that's just a preference thing. And I'm talking about the whole verse btw
May 5, 2016 " Let me tell the lost tale about Jacques Let me tell you how I turned Scott How I went down on the block Waterfall around ten o'clock And how we came up gettin' all the knots, dodgin' cops, yeah 'Fore a n----- had the locks 'Fore a n----- had the chain, 'fore I had the bops Always kept my city on me like it was a swatch Every time we in the party, took it up a notch Now I'm thinkin' 'bout this new girl, and she doin' pop (Ohhh) Wanna know my d-ck longer than a Pringle box (Don't pray for love) Tired of seein' these black kids on the face of FOX (Ohhh) And f--- CNN, they don't wanna see us win (Said I-) Mama don't you worry no, no more, worry no, no more I'ma take you from the first to the ninetieth floor You always told me what I plant, that s--- gotta grow And anything I detonate, that s--- gotta blow" Narsh : "meh" "I bought an audi for my mum n s---" Narsh: "Gnary AF lyrix m9 thug cares about his family so much man f---! " btw do you still think that ad-lib on I Can Tell is stolen?
May 5, 2016 Oh definitely, i also prefer his vocal delivery when i'm on a certain mood, then again there is MOTM 1 & 2 but Travis gets a spin here and there too
