    We're going off topic, but I have always kinda liked Bad more. But thriller might be better. s---, I like Dangerous a lot too, but definitely below those two

    Its not that off topic, i mean, we're still talking about Michael and Prince. Its not we're talking about TDE or something here. Dangerous is a great album too, and probably his last great one.

    Thriller wins. A lot more memorable. Purple Rain closes well tho.

    Off The Wall is better than both.

    I think this is kind of a no-brainer for me. Both are great albums but Thriller's importance is almost entirely commercial. Purple Rain was one of the only albums in history that was deliberately commercial and yet not artistically compromised, IE he wanted to make himself a superstar but he didn't have to sell out to do it. On Thriller, almost all the songs are great, but the album is way too poppy in general and way too conciliatory to every possible demographic, it just isn't as edgy or as artistically accomplished as Purple Rain, which is a pretty good characterization of the difference between Prince and MJ's career.

    Tough choice, but I will say Prince had the most talent of the two performer's, imo. More versatile in being playing the guitar, singing, dancing, and acting. A master of his arts.

    Like I said in the Prince thread, I wasn't really checking for him growing up. Thriller was the bigger record in my life. The earliest music videos that I saw as a kid were Beat It, Thriller and Billie Jean. Billie Jean especially defined my earliest childhood music memories. I used to try to dance on floor tiles and pretend that they would light up like in the video.
