    Purple Rain vs Thriller..

Both of these albums are classics made by two icons who are no longer with us. I've heard Thriller countless times since falling in love with it around age 12. I bought Purple Rain yesterday and have listened about 6 times already.

Which album is better and why? I'll give my opinion later on

this is a very good comparison. both are similar artists. both albums have 9 tracks. these are the type of albums that never get old.

its very close , i'd be surprised if this is an easy decision for anyone----i'd go with thriller

but overall prince was better---and he's got more better albums than jackson does

    Thriller.
I grew up listening to various MJ tracks and although I don't listen to him very often, I still enjoy his albums more.
Purple Rain hasn't clicked yet for me.

    100%

As far as overall talent and artistry, Prince was lightyears ahead of MJ.

Prince and Michael comparisons are very, very interesting. Prince reminds me of Young Thug. Minus a few albums, he constantly released solid bodies of work. Could they compare to his 80's best? No, but some of them were still d--- good and could live up to the Prince name. Michael reminds me of Eminem...Michael and Eminem's first 3 are regarded as some of the best albums in each respective genre. Slim Shady LP, Marshall Mathers LP, The Eminem Show vs. Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad. Thinking about some of the songs just gives you chills. But like Em...Michael kinda crashed and burned...Granted, Dangerous was a h--- of alot better then Encore, and probably was almost as good as Bad, but it was missing the magic that Michael never captured again.
Michael, like Em had classic songs after his prime

Ex. Going through Changes for Eminem, Earth Song for Michael.

But Michael, like Em was held to such a high degree in each genre that they failed to live up to their best. Prince, aside from 4-5 masterpieces, never really had a defining album that put him in a box like Michael. He just made a great/good album, said "Cool", and just started work on the next one. Michael was always trying to top Thriller and its success, Prince knew "Purple Rain" was his opis, and that didn't stop him from branching out and doing new things and being successful.

    Thriller 4 me

But its not even MJs best Album.

    Bad >>>>> Thriller.

Prince was overall the better artist tho.

I dont really like comparing them. Both were great singers. Michael is the greatest dancer who ever lived, and Prince is one of the greatest guitar players of all time.

So I listened to them both back to back last night. Thriller has been played by me a bunch of times, and I love it. I don't believe there's a bad song on there (f--- you Chris Rock saying Baby Be Mine is bad). But after 5 or 6 listens, I can confidently say Purple Rain has no bad songs either, and the closing title track is much better than The Lady in My Life

Thriller almost seems too perfect. Like, Michael killed it, but it's the producers and hours spent in the studio mastering those songs, most not written by Michael himself, that resulted in a classic. Prince was behind all of Purple Rain.

Both are fantastic, but I'm on the fence lol

    Chris Rock is a coon

But I think @Jerome is right. Bad is a stronger body of work, just not as consistant.
    -Wanna Be Starting Something
    - Thriller
    - Billie Jean
    - Beat It
    - PYT
Classic, timeless tracks, Billie Jean you can put on at a party today and it still sounds fresh as f---.

    But Bad, Had...
    -Bad
    - The Way You Make Me Feel
    - Man In The Mirror
    - Another Part Of Me
    - Smooth Criminal
    - Dirty Diana
