Apr 16, 2016 Always one guy from Cousinfuck, Oklahoma or something coming in to say a major artist isn't popular or respected where they live.
Apr 16, 2016 Because he was overrated so it aggravated people to see him get so much praise despite not being as good as he was made out to be. That's one of the reasons why I f--- with Wayne right now, because people aren't riding his d-ck so heavy, so I can enjoy what's hot and discard what's whack. He's had his fair share of bad material, but the people who treat everything he makes as gold are just as bad as the ones who treat everything he makes like trash.
Apr 16, 2016 He wasn't tho. Everywhere I went I heard Wayne. Even when he dropped no ceilings that s--- was playing at parties into late 2010, which isn't his peak obviously. It's the hip hop purists who think Immortal Technique is an anime character. Anyone who legit hated Wayne was a neckbeard.
Apr 16, 2016 Wayne first started to peak at a time where no one was really competing to become the best rapper alive. There was no one in Hip Hop claiming that title - so when Wayne did, his fans ate it up and ran with it. Salty Hip Hop fans got pissed and starting the bandwagon of hating him.
Apr 16, 2016 Wayne was on everything. Absolutely everything. The amount of music he was making was far too much to be consistent. It's not that I hated Wayne. I just hated everyone calling him the greatest 5 minutes after listening to a garbage verse. Dude had some great punchlines and wordplay. We got some great verses out of that era. But there was just as much, if not more throwaway content that got attention and airplay just because it was Wayne. In context, Kendrick is in his prime now but he chooses who to work with more carefully. He doesn't spread himself too thin, so his work is more consistent and he doesn't have as much hate as Wayne did 8 years ago.
Apr 16, 2016 He had some great stuff, but I could never completely get over his voice That's the only reason I would have ever disliked him.
Apr 16, 2016 some bad and/or misinformed posts in here. there was a very vocal contingent of rap fans who hated wayne during his prime. they were mostly a coalition of "real hip-hop" conservatives and eminem fans. it wasn't a gimmick--he was the best rapper alive. what? this isn't true at all. sure, there were people who thought "lollipop" was lame, but he was rapping incredibly hard at his commercial peak. again, this is objectively untrue. *makes jerking-off motion with hand* if other people affect how you appraise/enjoy an artist's work, you're lame kendrick is not and never has been as good as wayne was in 07.
Apr 16, 2016 What classics? Wayne has been predominantly s--- since 2009. Rebirth & IANAHB are among the worst rap albums I've ever heard in my life.
Apr 16, 2016 Alot of it was Eminems fans annoyed at another rapper having huge buzz that wasn't in Shady/Aftermath.
Apr 16, 2016 Rebirth was a rock/rap album from what I remember. Also, does it really matter? Both of them were horrendous from what I remember.
