if you remember mid 2000s, Wayne was always sh---ed on by "hip hop heads" and the internet in general..but now most ppl place him in their top 10s based on the work he did during that time

    so, why the hate?

At the peak of my standom I really hated Wayne, mostly because all I'd heard were his hits and couldn't believe people were saying he was the best rapper alive, but also because I was young and stupid. Actually got a timehop on fb through the week from 09 or 10 where I said he was the reason hip hop was dying, cringe

I know he got a lot of hate for being considered a "sell out"

Wayne entered the rap game with harsher lyrics, talking about drugs, violence and the street life in general. After he gained the fame he has now, he changed his subject matter to softer lyrics.

Also for some people Wayne represented everything we hate about rap nowadays. The senseless lyrics, the colorful clothes, the weirdness..

Those of us who grew up listening to 90's rap, we had different standards for what it is to be a rapper and a man.

They're different nowadays. You can't understand them? Well, that's normal. While you were small and listening to rap, did your parents understand why were you listening to those badly mannered thugs? Times are changing. For good or for bad, they're changing.

Because "real hip-hop fans" took over. Wayne still isn't top 10 imo. He's put out so much s-----y music in his career.

Google top 10 rappers of all time and guarantee you'll see his name mentioned more than a few times.
