Jan 31, 2016 Right now, tpab is imo his prime, but I feel like section 80 could have been better than it if it wasn't a "low budget" album.
Jan 31, 2016 I mean... tpab & s80 are both very jazzy, I get the same vibes when listeningto both (sonically) but can you imagine kendrick working on s80 with terrace martin, kamasi and robert glasper? Just imagine the exact same album with different layered sounds and real artists working on it instead of using jazz samples and all that s---. Tpab is my favorite kendrick project, but for some reasons I feel like s80 had the potential to be his best s---
Jan 31, 2016 just being in the studio with kenny must be amazing all those musical minds at work would be f---in special
Jan 31, 2016 Just realized kendrick has made a near flawless album twice in a row. When you think about it, the old hip hop heads think tpab is his best album, and the teenagers think gkmc is his best album. 2 albums for different people. I was looking at that RYM ranking yesterday, and noticed that the 2 highest rated albums of the decade on the site (in any genre) were TPAB & GKMC... Mbdtf is ranked 1 but has a lower score than both tpab & gkmc... and the funny thing is that you have 2 different categories of people rating them albums; the old heads or those familiar with the black musical genres that have influenced hip hop: jazz, blues, funk, etc and young people or guys familiar with club music, trap, etc.
Jan 31, 2016 i'm 20 and i prefer GKMC but i love TPAB i have them both on vinyl man good theory ur one of my favourite new members btw
Jan 31, 2016 He'll probably have one more TPAB type of album in terms of rankings etc.. He still has a chance to be international. Kendrick is not topping the charts in Europe yet but he probably will at least as much as Drake does.
Jan 31, 2016 I'm 20 too ahah but I prefer oldschool music and tpab is my favorite. I love gkmc too ofc.
Jan 31, 2016 kendrick makes me think of Kanye tbh, he makes different albums for different people, and all these guys can make good argument as to why each album is better than the other one. And it's funny because I feel like these 2 artists have a different fanbase with every album. They still have their fans who been riding with them since day 1 but for the most part they have a different audience with almost every release. That's an interesting way of staying relevant.
Jan 31, 2016 yeah like yeezus lost but gained kanye fans artists that do things like that are amazing to watch
Jan 31, 2016 I think it all depends on his next album tbh, only 2 major albums in isn't enough to tell where his prime was (if he even hit it yet). I think at the very least we'll get the J cole collab and another great to classic album like TPAB before he "falls off", even if you didn't like TPAB, judging by his guest verses and live performances it's really hard to make the case that he's fallen off in any way.
Feb 1, 2016 i think this is the most correct answer so far, he is in his prime and itl last a few more years
