The hip hop community will say he fell off though, because there's no way his next album is gonna get as much acclaim as TPAB (but thats also what we said when gkmc came out lmao)

The tpab route, it's his prime.

I mean I probably enjoy gkmc more than tpab, because like you said its more commercial? but quality wise, kendrick is a far better artist on tpab, and tpab is a far superior album imo.

All his albums were better than the previous ones, but yeah its not gonna be easy, but I'm pretty sure he has it in him to drop an album as amazing as TPAB.

It's hard to tell. I feel like he still has a lot to show and that a lot will be revealed in his next album

Comparing this thread to @Immy's drake thread

Do you think he has hit his prime yet? dropping 2 major label important albums which were both successful.

Every feature he puts out just seems to shine compared to other rappers, which also points to him being in his prime.

Can you see him topping TPAB or even GKMC whichever you think is better?

He won't top tpab, but he can easily top gkmc

    Kamasi Washington.
    Terrace Martin.
    Robert Glasper.
    Thundercat.
    Ambrose Akinmusire.

    :wow:
TPAB is oozing with BLACK musical excellence.

I mean, it might've been a dope album if it was straight Hip-Hop (like GKMC) but once they
dipped into the ideas black musicians have helped to pioneer over the past 100 years, it was over... tpab was literally a masterpiece.

Tpab is literally the only kendrick project I f--- with, and since I don't think he gonna replicate this formula on his next album... yes, he has already hit his prime to me.

I actually do wonder if he's peaked yet.

Will his next album be when he falls off? (People already think he has but let's not kid ourselves).

I mean... tpab & s80 are both very jazzy, I get the same vibes when listeningto both (sonically) but can you imagine kendrick working on s80 with terrace martin, kamasi and robert glasper? Just imagine the exact same album with different layered sounds and real artists working on it instead of using jazz samples and all that s---.

Tpab is my favorite kendrick project, but for some reasons I feel like s80 had the potential to be his best s---

I think his best has yet to come, but to me the bar is tpab. As I've already said, I never got the hype for gkmc, to me it was always just a decent album.

I'm getting old and I feel like I experienced one or two more generations of hip hop and like I've already said, tpab isn't just a rap album, it's more than that and I usually compare it to some of my favorite albums in any genre...while gkmc is just a hip hop record and I can't compare it to the likes of illmatic, reasonable doubt, LS, atliens, ready to die.

Gkmc is good when you compare it to the other albums of this generation, but I just didn't have that "wow" factor when listening to it, it didn't blow my mind the way Reasonable Doubt (or other great albums) did when I heard it in the 90s.

I think its ok if you don't like it, but disrespecting the album is not fair, especially if you know your s---.

like for example, some musicians still saying they don't like a single song, but they would still rank it among the best albums of the decade for its quality.
There's a lot of albums I don't like but I'd still aknowledge them as amazing albums.
