Nov 16, 2015 'we’re ranking rappers, not rap artists. That’s why Dr. Dre and Kanye West, for example, two legendary producer-artists who don’t match the mic skills of those listed here, were left out.'
Nov 16, 2015 i mean, that doesn't work as a way to dismiss kanye. it just doesn't. i think you can have a very respectable top ten without him, but if we were doing this on pure rapping ability, where's pharoahe monch? where's aceyalone? where's young thug?
Nov 16, 2015 yeah sounds like the kind of awful excuse people who make a list with kendrick in the top 10 of all time would use im surprised drake isnt on here 3bh
Nov 16, 2015 Yeah because you mentioned him along with Kanye before. I do think he could be considered, but then someone like RZA as well (many others too tbh)
Nov 16, 2015 Yeah agreed purely in term of rapping pharoahe probably should be in the top ten, you could also make an argument for the likes of black thought, lupe, even tech 9. As for Kanye he wouldn't be in my top 10 but he'd probably be top 20.
Nov 16, 2015 Truly shocked not to see pac, Kanye and 50 not on the list but Wayne, Lauren hill and Kendrick on the list.
Nov 16, 2015 I definitely think he was a huge influence on most of the current rappers out now. I've seen interviews by most of black hippy claiming he was a big influence for them. While I don't think 50s current s--- is of the same caliber as his early s--- it's hard to deny his impact on rap as a whole.
Nov 16, 2015 the list is best rappers though. Even in 50s prime he wasn't a great rapper but did make great music.
Nov 16, 2015 I know this is all down to preference but Lupe is def skilled enough to deserve a spot on a bigger list.. (shame that he lost it for a while after The Cool)
