Nov 11, 2015 Buy a DAW, watch some tutorials online, download some free sample packs and try to make something creative with it. Producing music takes a lot of time and you can't really rush it.
Nov 11, 2015 Time and dedication. You're not just going to sit at a computer, open up a DAW and start putting together masterpieces. I'm going to assume you've got yourself a copy of FL or something so just search youtube for basic tutorials in the genre of your choice and go from there. Prepare to spend hours reading, watching and learning. It's a frustratingly fun process. Edit: and by hours I mean a lifetime.
Nov 11, 2015 yeah, ive made like 5 beats and played around on FL for hours at a time. I just don't understand why the stuff i put together doesnt sound very good and im limited on sounds. i dont know how to sample and my melodies are very bland, basic and one dimensional.
Nov 11, 2015 Sound limitation is easily overcome, there are endless free drum packs and vst's available online, a google search will point you in the right direction. Sampling, if you're using FL, will be done in Edison. Search youtube for a quick how to on that particular bit of software and the rest is all down to timing. As for bland melodies, that's something that can only really be fixed with an understanding, even minimal, of music theory. Again, google and youtube will be your friend here.
Nov 11, 2015 thanks for the help. are there any good free vsts? i dont download torrents. also do you know how to sample only the vocals from a song without anything else?
Nov 11, 2015 Download some drum packs and plug ins for fl, Im telling you that completely changes the game. Also just study your favorite type of music and the sound that you're aiming for and break down those beats in your head and try to analyze them. Study your favorite producers.
Nov 11, 2015 No problem. It depends what you're looking for really, google something like "good free vst's for *genre*" and someone would have compiled a list of the best ones, probably with download links. Sampling vocals without any other noise would require an acapella version of the track. Again, youtube MAY help you here. You could try EQing the other noise out but the success of that would depend on what else is happening around the vox.
Nov 11, 2015 Sweet! Thank you. Here are some examples of vocal sampling that I have in mind. Both sample old Three 6 Mafia songs I believe.
Nov 12, 2015 You just need to learn and practice. If you learn music theory, making melodies would be alot easier. Dont get frustrated, have fun with it instead.
Nov 12, 2015 ok cool, thank you so much. do you know how to chop vocals like in the example i put above your last post?
Nov 12, 2015 Two of them sounded like the vocals was a part of the original sample. So the vocals is a part of the chops he made of the the sample. Then you can pitch it up or down as you like Not to promote myself lol but here i did it with this beat There was also vocals in my remake of Ali Bomaye too. Lets say you chopped some melodies of a sample and then you could chop a vocal part that says some thing like "oooooohhhhhhh" or something lol and use it The other ones i think he found an acapella (Three 6 Mafia?) and time strecthed it so it fitted the tempo and used it like that. Maybe pitched it up or down.
Nov 12, 2015 Also watch this video of a 9th Wonder beat someone remade. He also uses the vocals that is a part of the sample
Nov 12, 2015 how do you think he took the three 6 vocals because its from a song but it doesnt have the beat in it?
Nov 12, 2015 I actually picked up FL studio a month and about a week ago. I can send you some tutorials that are paid for if you want.
Nov 12, 2015 You find an acapella and then you chop it and make it fit to your beat by time stretching
