Lol. Kanye dropped FOUR consistently great albums in the 2000s. Twice as many as em did. Wayne's carter series in the 2000s is also better than em's work in the 2000s. Em might be top 3 tho, so you can have that.Deadpool, Ordinary Joel, Narsh and 4 others like this. -

it doesnt matter if you hate or love Em...2000s belongs to him... MMLP/TES/8 Miles/DN were all something else...commercially he was in a COMPLETE different level than everyone else...the only one you can argue for is Kanye..but imo Em takes it easilyFranky, Michael Myers, Jerome and 4 others like this. -

How in the world did Eminem have a bigger impact "musically"
Rofl, Kanye also had 808s and heartbreak in the same time span. Redefined the genre.
and u really think MMLP and TES are arguably the "best 2 rap albums to ever be made back to back?" Come onw
Wait WHAT. Encore and relapse are better than most albums in 2015? Did u hit ur head m8
yeah but this is false
for the work he did in 00-04?
how are eminems albums better
ur also like 16 no?
The only this proves, once again, is that eminem is one of the most well known rappers of all time. That's not what this thread is about
kendricks best projects are better than along drakes tho
False
no
all you're doing is showing your lack of knowledge re: hip hop
Name another a rap album before TCD that sounded like TCD. The content, the production, etc. You can say the same from Em's first few albums, but the problem is they had no lasting impact. They were different than everything else out at the time though, thats for sure.
As for kanye, rappers like J Cole wouldn't exist without early kanye. Rappers like drake wouldn't exist without middle kanye. rappers like travis scott wouldnt exist without current kanye.
Its only "weak" because it doesnt help Eminem's case. We've been talking about a rappers influence the ENTIRE thread. And this is one of the ways to judge their influence on the genre, and kanye is head and shoulders above the rest.
you dont know your history. i dont either, entirely. but you're literally talking out of your a---. Kanye was a noted producer before this debut. Its not in the same context as f---ing will smith. smh.
Yeah, they can. But then the question would be, WHY is it it "more important?" Lets say "no one rapped about his personal life like Em," sure. Now tell me why that matters? Did it influence other rappers/genre? Did it have a lasting impact?
Or is it an isolated occurrence, like Eminem's entire prime.
Man you keep going back and forth in your criteria. You said "rapper of the decade" = EVERYTHING. And if we include EVERYTHING, eminem is far ahead in terms of popularizing rap (sales, fanbase, etc). But his quality out put in the 0s, was very short-lived.
Wayne and Kanye were both extremely popular, (not as much as Eminem), but eminem also disappeared after like 04. And they didnt. Kanye was there for the entire decade putting out great, influential projects. Wayne appeared to the hardest working rapper alive in his prime. Both Kanye and Wayne had more of the "whole package" than eminem, clearly. Accepting that doesnt mean taking Eminem's accomplishments from him.
eminem became the biggest wankster alive before he dropped off the grid.

2000s Kanye redefined the genre with College Dropout, dropped the classic Late Registration, created a whole new wave of electro pop with Graduation, and literally laid the entire groundwork for the majority of modern rap with 808s and Heartbreak. People talk about drake or future or thug being in contention for 2010s? Kanye is the reason those artists can exist in the space they do. If just having two classic albums and a handful of average ones were the prerequisite then Lil Wayne would be in contention too. He'd actually be more justified because of his insane mixtape run. Eminem is arguably top 3 or top 5 but if you're placing him at the top you're not thinking straight.Deadpool, Ordinary Joel, Narsh and 2 others like this. -

Em's biggest contribution imo was spreading hip-hop globally. Most rappers rely exclusively on domestic sales. I don't think any rapper is more multinational than him. This comes from the fact that I've interacted with Em fans on message boards for years.
That said, look at somebody like Wayne who was prolific, reinvented the mixtape, killed Billboard, and noticeably pushed the entire genre in a certain direction.Deadpool, Ordinary Joel, Narsh and 2 others like this.May 1, 2026(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Bunch of corny f---ers in here.
Obviously, it is safe to say Drake is the most popular artist if the 2010s but he also just hops on whatever wave is hot and rides it till its death. If we are talking about influential, that could go a few ways. Id say Kendrick has had more of an impact on society, especially after TPAB (crowds protesting while singing Alright).Deadpool, Ordinary Joel, Oldboy and 1 other person like this. -

If you want to do this strictly commercially then this isn't even a discussion. It's somebody too lazy to look up album sales. Not much to do there. Otherwise we're talking impact on hip-hop and who changed the landscape the most or most prolific or most consistent etc, in which Em doesn't have a leg to stand on.Deadpool, Narsh, gorealsteady and 1 other person like this.
