One of the things that really impresses me about Still Brazy is that it ditches the day-in-the-life narrative but is still so thematically sound. You can feel the tension building re: the shooting and then releasing with "Twist My Fingaz"; it closes with that three-song suite of political commentary. It's a really carefully made album.

For the record, almost every site is reporting a list of production credits that include three Dr. Dre beats and four co-productions from Mustard. Disregard that, it's false.

I think you have to engage with art on the art's own terms, and that includes work that articulates different political or social views than your own--to an extent. YG's always been wildly regressive on gender, but (to me) it's never derailed a song the way it does here.

I mean, maybe, it's not a ridiculous notion. But as much as I love the Untitled tape, nothing Kendrick's done since gkmc approaches Summertime 06, h--- Can Wait, My Krazy Life, or this.

When he says "MFa who shot me" you just feel that s---. You can hear how angry and paranoid he is just from the way he delivers it. So much emotion in that song.
