    I'm from Seattle and I don't think anyone here would question that I support gay rights to the fullest. But I think Same Love is a horrible/corny song. I don't doubt that he was sincere in making it, I just think he's oblivious.

    Personally I really enjoyed The Heist, but you could describe Macklemore as "Disney rap". Fun for the whole family.

    No, his music is corny imo. That Same Love joint was him capitalizing on an opportunity more than it was genuine. The way he did his radio runs and talked about how he dead a--- thought he was gay was corny too.

    And the Kendrick situation, yeah. That was corny as well, why do you have to text the guy who lost? Lol.

    Except he writes about these issues with the maturity level of a 12 year old, which is why songs like Same Love are so corny and filled with platitudes.

    For the record, seeing Macklemore and Ryan Lewis go platinum was dope. Independent artists having that level of success is good for the genre.

    I dont understand people saying that macklemore makes 'kidz bop' s--- or 'disney' songs

    He makes some cornier songs sure, but he also writes about drug abuse, materialism, social standards, stereotypes, these are not 12 YO level discussions,
    People only ever bring up same love when discussing macklemore and just ignore songs like otherside, jimmy iovine, wings, starting again, at the party, life is cinema, etc.
