Aug 2, 2015 It is NOT the soundtrack, it is "Loosely Inspired" by the movie, this album makes no reference to NWA, only the city of Compton. The real soundtrack is being distributed on Universal, this one is being distributed by Aftermath/Interscope. So take that double L, for looking stupider then before.
Aug 2, 2015 I think it's just a soundtrack to Compton itself. It's an album inspired by everything he associates Compton with and more. Not a soundtrack to the actual movie. If that was the case then it would probably be called something like Straight Outta Compton OST
Aug 2, 2015 Soundtrack in its own sense, yes its coming out around the same time as the movie, but as you can see, unlike most soundtrack's especially "Notorious" , it carries only new tracks and has nothing about N.W.A aside from a feature from Ice Cube. This will be a soundtrack like GKMC was for Kendrick (and yes, it had soundtrack on the cover too) it will follow a different narrative with little connection to the movie. I doubt any of the songs from this "Soundtrack" that you oh so speak of, will even be in this movie aside from MAYBE the credits, which I bet will just be "Straight Outta Compton" need I say more?
Aug 2, 2015 Yeah. This album is a soundtrack in the way that good kid maad city is a "short film". I'm not doubting that there will indeed be a separate soundtrack of random music for the actual movie.

Aug 2, 2015 I agree with that but given the fact this album will largely be used to also promote the film, i'd say it acts as a second soundtrack. But yes soundtrack is the "narrative" of the album. It's a soundtrack based on what Dre was inspired by when he saw the movie.

Aug 2, 2015 All I will say is. For 15 years Dr. Dre's artists have spoke on his album process for Detox and him being an absolute mentally insane "perfectionist". If this album doesn't show that. I'll be very disappointed that he released it.
Aug 2, 2015 He didn't make this album after seeing the movie though. He was on set one day in early 2014, and got inspired and secretly recorded this album about "Compton", not. "NWA". We thought it would be just a soundtrack, but its completely different. It's got connection I'm not gonna lie, but it stands on its own. This " Soundtrack " will be closer to "The Chronic" then "2001"
