Aug 11, 2015 No you really don't. Your feelings about this album are so over the top it's really kind of ridiculous and I think it has to do with how high your expectations were. You were completely blindsided aND are kind of in shock which is really skewing your views. I mean, I get it. This isn't the album I wanted, either. I wanted f---ing Detox. I wanted an album full of bangers that sounded lIke they were produced in 2099. We didn't get that and while it's obviously disappointing we still got a very good album. With MMLP2 I knew were getting a pile of s---. It turned out worse than I ever could have imagined and honestly I didn't spend a lot of time talking about it when it dropped. I'll still post a sentence here or there just to remind people how bad it is but I think you'll eventually come around and admit this isn't as bad as you initially thought. I still agree with you that INAD blows MM put of the water. I legitimately don't understand how people think "I'm a pain in the butt like I got shot in the butt with a paintball gun" and something about groundhogs is better than either of his INAD verses. Those were the last meaningful verses we'll ever hear from Eminem.
Aug 11, 2015 This is EXACTLY what I was hoping and expecting this album to be. Good points as usual man.
Aug 12, 2015 Not sure if its been posted yet but heres a vid of a live QnA chat with Dre, Cube, Yella, Ren and a few other negros, the video starts 21 minutes into it.
Aug 12, 2015 After almost a week with this album, I finally have my top 5. 1. Darkside/Gone 2. Issues 3. Deep Water 4. Animals 5. It's All On Me And that still leaves out A1 tracks like All In A Day's Work. This album is too good, I need another week to figure out the rankings for the rest of it.
Aug 12, 2015 I've gone over why it's a bad album on here many times. I can sum it up quick by saying tracks 1-14 are absolutely god awful. Painful to listen to. I don't like one song, one beat, anything about that stretch of the album. I like tracks 15-16 but even those aren't great. Compare this to the previous Dre albums where every beat was a classic and you never had to skip a track. If other people like the album, cool, but I just don't see any appeal to it.
Aug 12, 2015 My top 5 is like this 1. Deep Water 2. Darkside/Gone 3. All in a Day's Work 4. Talking To My Diary 5. Talk About It
Aug 12, 2015 My top 5 would probably be 1. Deep Water 2. All In A Day's Work 3. Darkside/Gone 4. Talking to My Diary 5. Talk About It Whoa, I didn't even see @Meero 's top 5 before I made mine lol great minds think alike
Aug 12, 2015 My review after listening to the whole album five times 2 Talk About It (Ft. King Mez & Justus) 8/10 the line about Eminem checks.....just drop the mic. 3. Genocide (Ft. Kendrick Lamar, Marsha Ambrosius & Candice Pillay) 10/10 that beat is is so f---ing awesome! And Kendrick steals it of course. 4. It's All On Me (Ft. Justus & BJ The Chicago Kid) 7/10 HOMIE 5. All In A Day's Work (Ft. Anderson Paak) 10/10 this is for the people who won't shut the f--- up bout detox 6. Darkside/Gone (Ft. King Mez, Marsha Ambrosius & Kendrick Lamar) 10/10 RIP Eazy E 7. Loose Cannons (Ft. Xzibit & COLD 187um) 5/10 Xzibit is the only thing i cared for on here, the rest is ehh. 8. Issues (Ft. Ice Cube & Anderson Paak) 8/10 Cube best verse in god knows how long. 9. Deep Water (Ft. Kendrick Lamar & Justus) 10/10 BEST SONG on this album. that beat is f---ing haunting, the drowning is so poignant. 10. One Shot One k--- (Jon Connor Ft. Snoop Dogg) 8/10 Snoop ain't f---ing around. 11. Just Another Day (The Game Ft. Asia Bryant) 7/10 more Game then we'll talk bout raising this score. he sounds f---ing hungry. 2 min is BS 12. For The Love Of Money (Ft. Jill Scott & Jon Connor) 5/10 nothing notable, average hook. 13. Satisfiction (Ft. Snoop Dogg, Marsha Ambrosius & King Mez) 8/10 solid work from everyone, and good hook. 14. Animals (Ft. Anderson Paak) 9/10 good political message, great hook. 15. Medicine Man (Ft. Eminem, Candice Pillay & Anderson Paak) 7/10 love the chick on the hook. eminem is just saying words to say them. ehh 16. Talking to My Diary 7/10 sentimental Dre is a new thing but without a much needed third verse, i'm left w/ a good jazz solo outro but not a goodbye. dammit i waited 16 years, and over 30 years of work as an artist, i needed a better sendoff. the opening cinematic sequence of the rise and downfall of Compton was great, but the ending was missing like a lost movie reel. overall: 8/10
Aug 12, 2015 I don't get the Game love or the Eminem hate. Long time reader, so I guess I'm not surprised. To each is own. My favorite track of the day off this album is For the Love of Money.
Aug 12, 2015 For The Love of Money is one of my favorites too. I love Jill Scott and the ending was smooth as h---.
Aug 13, 2015 guys, I just heard some detox cut will be released before the end of the year on iTunes/beats music. anyone got more infos?
Aug 13, 2015 Kendrick verses are great. I really like Deep Water and out of all the three verses of his, the one on Deep Water was the best.
Aug 13, 2015 If only we can get a Dre song with Em & Kendrick on it. Dre's ears know what real talent is.
Aug 13, 2015 anyone else thinks that King Mez intro on Talk About It is horrible...? this s--- kinda ruins my overall view of the album I haven't chance to say what I think of the album yet, well it's really great, I love the production, there's many surprises like Justus that made great hooks imo, Dre's flow is awesome, every feature was on point and obviously Kendrick was the best although Em is just behind him, Eminem is another surprise for me, I mean I expected him to have a great verse but his delivery was somethin' new and his voice sounded so clean, I've missed that, my favourite tracks atm are probably it's all on me, all in a days work and darkside/gone but it changes all the time
Aug 13, 2015 I'm surprised you didn't like Just Another Day. I think it's great. Probably the best rapping I've heard from Game in years, and the beat complimented his flow so well. Personally I'd say this is a version of The Game that we haven't gotten enough of in recent years. Game spitting gangsta rap over a knocking west-coast beat is the style/sound that suits him best, and I hope it's a sign of things to come for Documentary 2.
Aug 13, 2015 I just listened to this for the first time in ages and its still great. Noticing different s--- all the time, the beats are amazing
