Jun 23, 2015 I have issues with comments like these. This is only really a big deal to cultural (maybe sectional is a better word but f--- it) differences between the South and North/West. Down south, wearing, having or seeing the Confederate flag is no big deal and an every day thing because it meant/means something very different down there than what the rest of the country associates it with. Down there it basically represents States Rights (you know... the main reason the Civil War actually happened but that's beside the point) and Southern pride where the rest of country associates with Slavery and everything that comes with it. I don't really think it's fair or even accurate to call it "racist" and "disgusting" because he's wearing a Dixie flag. That's like the comparing the Dixie flag to the Nazi flag and pretending they're the same thing. But I'm southern so that makes me biased.
Jun 23, 2015 I understand what your saying but the fact is that at the time, one of the rights the confederates were fighting for WAS slavery. The right to own a person. So in my opinion it's in bad taste. And when I see someone wearing it, it annoys me. I understand that there were other rights involved but most of the people I have met who wear the flag have held onto prejudice in one way or another. Weather it's victim blaming with all the police stories that have come out, or just straight up using the N word (hard R). That's just my experience. But I respect you opinion.
Jun 23, 2015 Of course by extension one of the rights they were fighting for was the right to own a slave, which is obviously wrong and f----- up (nobody is not should argue otherwise) but what it has come to mean today (which is mostly Southern pride more than anything really) is something far different and should be treated as such. I'm not saying it's history should be ignored or forgotten, but that it should be viewed for what it means today, not in the 1860s. I think people let the racist fucktards who tend to be associated with the Dixie Flag corrupt its image /meaning which spawns the uproar when anybody famous wears or talks about it in a positive manner.
Jun 23, 2015 I disagree. I feel that it will always have a prejudice connotation however I respect that you have a different view point. To me it's just one of those things that should be left in the past. And if people feel the need for a flag that represents states rights, The don't tread on me flag is a good one. To many people use it as a symbol of hate for me to ever feel any other way. But like I said, I respect that you feel differently
Jun 24, 2015 Yelawolf looking like one racist MFer in this picture, I would not approach him in real life
Jun 24, 2015 No one (atm) really cares that much about a states history. People can play it off when others bring it to their attention. But deep down they don't give a f**k .
Jun 24, 2015 I get what your'e saying fam, I really do but come on.... A flag is not racist man!!! A flag can not be racist. A flag is just a flag. Made of cotton or whatever. A piece of material has no racial agenda.
Jun 24, 2015 So I can make a flag that says I hate n!ggers and it won't be racist because it's just a flag and meaningless piece of material. Right fam???
Jun 24, 2015 Bit of an extreme example?? A few polarising differences here. If YOU write 'I h8 n*ggas' on a flag I'd suggest that those words (especially the english language) hold a lot more clout than a bunch of symbols which would have also had a bunch of alternative meanings in past tense. Besides is not just a 'piece of material' then is it if your going to write words all over it?? Plus the main factor here being; Yela sporting a flag someone else designed with no text on it V's a flag that you've written out yourself containing racial slurs....... is a dumb comparrison, and you know this full well but whatever.
Jun 24, 2015 Your strong logic, spelling skills and overall grasp of the English language are incredibly reassuring about this country's future! Fam.
