Dec 29, 2024 Aight I already changed my mind on it anyway lmao gonna post in a bit after the tbt for Soul Burger
Dec 29, 2024 Ab Soul - Soul Burger At first I have to say I appreciate he's doing lots of different stuff. It isn't the same type of production for 15 songs which you hear a lot. But I can't say I like all of it. Some songs are just a chore to sit through because they are kind of a mess to me. Track by track: 9 mile - such a shame he wasted the first 2 minutes talking lol. Don't care for that s--- at all. But when the music starts, so the last 2 minutes, it's great! Paiday - it's okay I guess All that - love the production. Not really sure about those guys on here but they don't bother me either California Dream - too many weird stuff with the beat flips, if they just kept the beat going.... and then the last 1.5 minute another skit or whatever. Shame really Bucko Jr. - okay I like it but that much either I, Myself and Me - I like the first beat but the hamster wheel loop is kinda lame. Then the second beat is so annoying, it's a mess. Had high hopes for this Dnd - okay, but that notorious niq isn't it lol Don julio 70 - also okay but no replay value at all for me Go Pro - another song I kinda had high hopes for, it's just lazy imo especially the second half Saudi sweets - lol Squeeze first - okay Crazier - I just wish this had more 'beat' than it does. Both ab and jid go in though Peace - I can repeat what I said about Crazier. Lupe verse is cool Sky is Limitless - I like this! Righteous man - okay So yeah basically the album, to me, is the word I used most: okay. Interesting listen though. 6/10 @AOTWClub @Allis Mines nice pick bro
Dec 29, 2024 Okay ever since this club started people were saying 'oooh Myers coming with Pitbull and pop music'!!! I think I behaved so far, but since we going to change formats this is my last chance. I was going to do a Pitbull album, or maybe a Jay album (the greatest r---r of all time) But I'm going to do you all a favour since we have to listen to like 90 albums already for @DiggleDogg69 new years event! So I'm picking one of my favorite albums of 2024, which is an EP. I have to say I'm heavily biased because it's so connected to the movie so I get people not liking this at all. But here we go: @AOTWClub @Justin Trudeau I give you a pop album!
Dec 29, 2024 Movie sucks a---, hopefully this is better than that piece of utter dogshit movie 17 minute album??? Wish the piece of s--- movie was 17 minutes, id have wasted less time lol
Dec 29, 2024 @AOTWClub @Michael Myers has chosen Smile 2- The Skye Riley EP Its 17 f---ing minutes I'm sure you can get this one reviewed! I'm actually very interested in seeing how this one goes Ripperroo: 5/10 Jankland: 5.5/10 DiggleDogg69: 7/10 Yeez: 5/10 Justin Trudeau: 6/10 Stepdad enjoyer: 6.5/10 Wreckless: 6.5/10 Gimp: 4/10 45.5/ 80 = 5.6 I will tally up Ab Soul- Soul Burger on Wednesday
Dec 29, 2024 Also nahh don't think you will like this lmao But I chose a short album given all the 2024 albums for the AOTY thread Had others in mind first like I said
Dec 29, 2024 Man it was painfully bad, like hard to take serious bad. Started out good, then just got dumber and more boring until I eventually turned it off
Dec 29, 2024 Ab-Soul: Soul Burger Mmmmmmmm Burger I have to admit that I really hadn't listened to much Ab-Soul prior to this record. Off the top of my head I can name the 3 verses from him that I remember listening to: Kendrick's The Heart Part 3, Ab Soul's Outro from S80, and his feature on Danny Brown's Really Doe. I've always thought that his verses were great, but I never checked out a full album from him. Out of the 4 Black Hippy members, I've mostly listened to Kendrick with a bit of Q. I had planned to listen to an album from both Soul and Jay Rock at some point, so big thanks to @Allis Mines for the pick. I guess Jay Rock will have to wait in the meantime though. I actually really liked Soul Burger. I expected some great lyrics and that's what I got. I think Soul's delivery was also a big highlight. I liked most of the features especially JID, Ty Dolla $ign, and Vince Staples. This is a bit of a sidenote, but I haven't really been able to get into Doechii that much. I don't hate her verses or anything, but similar to her feature on CHROMAKOPIA, I just wasn't really vibing with her verse that much. Maybe her mixtape will change my mind, but who knows. As for the actual songs, I have to acknowledge that I wasn't a fan of the first half of 9 Mile. For a sec I thought that maybe I wouldn't like this record, but the second half won me over. Really enjoyed Paiday, California Dream, and B.U.C.K.O Jr. I also have to give props to Crazier and Go Pro. I think that Squeeze 1st 2 was a pretty good homage to the old Jay track (Hoping to select a Hov album sometime in the future, unless MM beats me to it) and yeah. While I can't say that this album is a perfect masterpiece or anything, I did enjoy it quite a bit. I'll probably revisit it in the future, and I might check out some of Soul's other work. So yeah, those are my thoughts on Soul Burger. Mmmmmmmm Favorite Songs: Paiday, California Dream, B.U.C.K.O. JR., Go Pro Rating: 7/10 @AOTWClub @Justin Trudeau
Dec 29, 2024 This seems like a repeat of the Atmosphere pick, with the majority of the club hating it I've enjoyed all of Allis' picks so far though (Yesterday is one of the best songs ever written)

Dec 29, 2024 Soul Burger - Ab-Soul REVIEW Score: 7.0 Review: Not gonna lie, going into this album I was scared. Y’all weren’t f---ing with the album, and I’ve seen the okay scores on AOTY.org due to me becoming an active user on there and collecting data for my 2024 album bracket thread (good plug right ), so I went in with caution. I am proud to say that i enjoyed this album! I didn't love it but I'm so glad I didn’t hate it. Crazier with JID is actually one of the best songs I’ve heard this year, it blew me away. Good pick @Allis Mines ! Interested to see how this does in the bracket. @AOTWClub @Justin Trudeau Spoiler: Rankings My Rankings: Discovery - 9.0 GNX - 9.0 Low - 9.0 Sling - 9.0 Cilvia Demo - 8.5 House Of Balloons - 8.5 Melodrama - 8.5 Orpheus vs. the Sirens - 8.5 Rare Chandeliers - 8.5 Seventh Son of a Seventh Son - 8.5 The Death Of Slim Shady - 8.5 Laugh Now, Cry Later - 8.0 Miles - 8.0 When the Smoke Clears: Sixty 6, Sixty 1 - 8.0 All My Heroes Are Cornballs - 7.5 Americana - 7.5 Indestructible - 7.5 Mannibalector - 7.5 Big Conspiracy - 7.0 Soul Burger - 7.0 Why Would I Watch? - 7.0 Atonement - 6.5 Kings Of Crunk - 6.5 MID AIR - 6.5 POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR - 6.5 Theater Of The Mind - 6.5 EAT ME, DRINK ME - 6.0 LIFTED or The Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground - 5.5 When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That s--- Gold - 5.0 DiggleDogg’s Rating Average: 7.57
Dec 29, 2024 Rap is my main genre I know the most about so I’m usually more critical of that genre when we review rap albums here when compared to something like a rock album
