Honestly, it’s mostly people from outside of NYC who are upset. It’s been common knowledge for decades that Blacks and Latinos created Hip Hop in the Bronx. But now you have FBA and ADOS hotep dudes who don’t want to acknowledge the Latino contribution that has been there since the beginning and a lot of them don’t even believe that Hip Hop started in NYC. They keep pointing to some oldies from the 30’s as being the ones who started Hip Hop. It’s a bunch of misinformed bamas who want to take the reins of Hip Hop and ironically they want to alter the established record. The very thing they’re complaining about is what they’re doing. They have an agenda and the agenda is only Black Americans started Hip Hop. Latinos had nothing to do with it. They even downplay Kool Herc’s role because he is an immigrant from Jamaica. These people on Twitter are nutjobs.
I think the reality is everyone has stolen cultural traits from different cultures throughout history...black, white, Hispanic, Asian, natives etc....
globalization does that when we interact with one another. Plus inventions have been made by all cultures and people from all countries....so everyone is a culture vulture to an extent
the majority of the world speaks English, as a primary communicator....a west Germanic language...therefore hip hop and any English music stole their language from thee Germans....just like the rest of us who speak and understand this language
