Why did Lupe Fiasco fall off commercially after Lasers?

Lasers sold like 227k first week and everyone knew who Lupe was. Unfortunately, it wasn't the greatest of albums. Fast-forward to 2015, Lupe drops a great album, but no one cares enough to check it out.

What led to this fall-off? (commercially, not critically)

How many copies did he sell in the first week with T&Y?

Lupe fell off so hard man. He is not even close to what he was in his prime.

probably because he hasn't had a radio single for 5 years/the attempts he made at one flopped

He was selling a lot in the mid 2000s, a time when hip-hop sales were ridiculous.
Then he had a hiatus and a comeback album with a catchy single.
T&Y had almost none of this going for it and is also rather inaccessible.

Still don't understand why people think T&Y is great. It's good at best, listened to it once and really didn't feel the need to go back to it.

prob because it was better in comparison to his recent work, but when viewed on its own, it's still pretty forgettable itself

i didnt even bother to listen to T&Y. figured that it would be better than F&L2 and lasers but not really comparable to his first 2 albums.

His music is still skillful, but I think he lost his organic creative spark a while ago.

I see some crazy talk in here in regards to Tetsuo & Youth. It was an amazing album.

T&Y didn't attract the same audience LASERS did commercially because it wasn't meant to. Keep in mind, T&Y was being shelved by Atlantic Records until Anonymous spoke out about it.

To you guys that only listened to the album once, how do you expect to fully digest or understand a Lupe project off of just one listen? If you simply just don't like it, that's fine. But don't judge him or the album off of one listen.

Lupe still has talent, he just doesn't have the same group of people around him that can make music as good as his first 2 albums

Battle Scars from F&L II was number 1 in Australia for a while (overtaken by Gangnam Style) because he collaborated with Guy Sebastian. It was a very good song.
