Nov 17, 2022 You posted a couple tweets from MJ's account promoting it above unless there was a falling out that happened in just the past few days?
Nov 18, 2022 My first impressions: What do you know: Cool Behind The Mask (OG version): Beat is tight. Interesting version, but I'm going to be honest: i think I prefer the remix. The mixing sounds a bit messy too. The Toy: WHAT?! It really is the og version of Best of Joy? Good track, I like both versions. What a lovely way to go: Sounds good. I'm suprised that MJ seemed to do as much beatboxing in this era, as later on in his career. Trouble: Was this the one which party leaked? It sounds way better than I remember.
Nov 18, 2022 It seems the MJ account has to be greenlit by the Estate before posting (managed by Sony). So far, there is no explicit mention of T40, lol. Anyway, I suspect there is bad blood between them since Sony acquired the music catalog.
Nov 18, 2022 Wonder what happened recently for the estate to switch up now because apparently they were on board before
Nov 19, 2022 I looked up John Branca's age, one of the people from the Estate. That dude is 71 years old. That's not good...
Nov 19, 2022 Good things coming from this release: SACD/MoFi vinyl 4k videos Atmos mix for the OG thriller album T40 first disc is mastered better than the first disc of t25 Some demos I guess? Collection of most of the thriller releases? Without stuff like the girl is mine demo, someone in the dark, etc Bad things: No promo Cover is s--- Wbss lyric video on Monday wtf Disc 2 is brick walled As content goes, it’s better than T25, but they just put it out with minimum effort and expected it to sell
Nov 19, 2022 The estate obviously needs some new and younger people. I know they're sometimes trying to play everything safe, but it seems like they're barely coming up with any fresh ideas.
Nov 19, 2022 No, sacd is a totally different mastering by MoFi. Sacd is only disc 1. 24 but lossless is probably the same as the normal cd. also more info on promo via Korgnex from MJJC Okay, I was asked last year and confirmed to a forum member that Thriller 40 was a thing but the MJE had little interest in contrast to Sony. Commercially it's just nothing important to them due to their shift in business priorities. As you can see they didn't bother to do anything with most of the versions they had. Basically they took some of MJ's own leftovers and the Quincy material that they have cleared long ago: "Sunset Driver" (2004), "Got The Hots" (2008) and "Carousel" (2001, 2008) are reused. Then there's "Can't Get Outta The Rain" again which simply remains the odd Thriller era B-Side that actually has nothing to do with the album (you all know its true origins from THE WIZ' "You Can't Win") that they used on the Riingle and the T25 Limited Single Collection box set last time. The other Quincy produced material has been cleared decades ago. Sony wanted to release several Thriller outtakes back in 1999-2001 like "Starlight", "She's Trouble", "Hot Street" and "Nite Line". We all know this. It was the same in 2007 but MJ went with will.i.am / Akon / Kanye West instead. The "new" MJ demos here were considered or actually have reworks done for either the MICHAEL or XSCAPE album. Oh boy, did they botcher "Carousel" on this. It was beautifully mastered in 2008 but this sounds muffled, somehow they didn't use the master they already have
