    Plus it'd be IMPOSSIBLE to tell Michael Jackson's story in a 2hr film.
    I'd be a lot more inclined if it was a miniseries divided into seasons. The thing is, they'd have to cast about 5 different actors to play MJ throughout his life, and they'd all have to be not only somewhat similar in terms of looks, but they'd also have to move gracefully and be skillful dancers. And on top of that, they should be able to actually act properly.

    Season 1 - From age 5 to Thriller
    Season 2- From Thriller to Dangerous
    Season 3- From Dangerous to 2001 (Invincible)
    Season 4- From 2001 until he passed away.

    So Season 3 and 4 would have a lot of controversy because that's when all the allegations happened and that's when he changed the most. They crushed his soul and he never fully recovered.

    This album is the GOAT so I thought it deserves it’s own thread.

    We just had the 25th anniversary in 2008 with crap remixes from Kanye, Fergie, Akon and Will.I.Am and I was expecting a 50th anniversary release, but I guess they wanted to leave behind the “Leaving Neverland” fiasco and proceeded with this odd number for an anniversary.

    Seemingly, it will be released on a multitude of formats including SACD (which is a direct transfer from the master tape) as well as Mobile Fidelity Ultra Disc One-Step (a fancy name meaning a better sound than a normal LP).

    Because Sony Music and the MJ Estate are r-----ed just like Shady/Interscope, they released some horrifying merch, but also a bonus disc with unreleased songs from that era. No s--- remixes this time. Color me surprised if they don’t stash it with leaked demos or outtakes. Shady could learn some stuff from them and at least release in HQ some leaks we have.

    All in all, GOAT album, not one of my favourite of his, though, but you can’t deny the impact it had on the music industry and also it’s stellar performance.

    I    MO I’m debating if that MoFi release it’s worth it (should be on par with the original 82 release), since I own older CD releases and vinyl pressings.

    The following are re-issues in which they've made it louder and louder, catering for today's standards. Which SUCKS.
    Today's music is extremely compressed, over-tuned and overly mastered. Loses all its dynamics.

    This is a great documentary, I can't believe someone uploaded the whole thing:

    I wish they would've done something like this for his other albums. I remember when the 25th anniversairy for Dangerous came and they did absolutely nothing.

    If they don’t like things altered then they shouldn’t be wanting to keep a compressed version over the original resolution :ummmm:

    They better not grab these tracks and pretend that they're new though. They weren't released everywhere, but they are still out there. New demos would be the biggest selling-point imo.

    It already sounds good now, I don't understand why they even need to retouch it again.

    I'm looking forward to the unreleased tracks though. :fkcurry:
    There were some rumors about a possible Weeknd-collab some months ago btw.

    No, sacd is a totally different mastering by MoFi. Sacd is only disc 1.
    24 but lossless is probably the same as the normal cd.

    Okay, I was asked last year and confirmed to a forum member that Thriller 40 was a thing but the MJE had little interest in contrast to Sony. Commercially it's just nothing important to them due to their shift in business priorities. As you can see they didn't bother to do anything with most of the versions they had. Basically they took some of MJ's own leftovers and the Quincy material that they have cleared long ago:
    "Sunset Driver" (2004), "Got The Hots" (2008) and "Carousel" (2001, 2008) are reused. Then there's "Can't Get Outta The Rain" again which simply remains the odd Thriller era B-Side that actually has nothing to do with the album (you all know its true origins from THE WIZ' "You Can't Win") that they used on the Riingle and the T25 Limited Single Collection box set last time.

    The other Quincy produced material has been cleared decades ago. Sony wanted to release several Thriller outtakes back in 1999-2001 like "Starlight", "She's Trouble", "Hot Street" and "Nite Line". We all know this. It was the same in 2007 but MJ went with will.i.am / Akon / Kanye West instead.

    The "new" MJ demos here were considered or actually have reworks done for either the MICHAEL or XSCAPE album.

    Oh boy, did they botcher "Carousel" on this. It was beautifully mastered in 2008 but this sounds muffled, somehow they didn't use the master they already have

    I used to browse that website A LOT between 2014 and 2016. Thank god I found hip-hop though/started listening to artists after that.
    I spent way too much time researching everything about MJ back then.

    Like I anticipated, there are a bunch of tracks which were already released in some way. Sunset Driver already came out as a part of the "Ultimate Collection" in 2004.

    That track is also from the Off The Wall sessions....
    Idk what they were thinking tbh.
