Sep 29, 2015 First impressions: it sucks, the slam is f---ing stupid and the Ollie's feel weird as h--- and the overall game just looks and feels goofy
Sep 29, 2015 The gameplay is choppy as s---, the giant text whenever someone joins a game and you can only host multiplayer at one level at a time. Wtf is this s---
Sep 29, 2015 I'm pissed, it had so much potential... Who let these c---- make it? They havnt proven themselves in the past
Sep 29, 2015 There's no characters to talk to and do s--- for them either I thought that was great In number 4
Sep 29, 2015 Completely forgot this game was even coming out. I'm guessing it's not very good. Need that THUG3 though.
Sep 29, 2015 they were cheap to hire and they wanted to squeeze one more cash grab out of thps while they still had the lisence
Sep 29, 2015 I'm buying this later against my better judgment. I'll probably sell it by the end of the week lol but I love this series so much I just have to try it out for myself. Might just Redbox it though idk, thats probably a better alternative.
Sep 30, 2015 You know your game is s--- when you release a day one patch that manages to be bigger than the game itself and still doesn't fix much. Looks like the dev team for Sonic 06 banded together and decided to make a Skate rip-off.
Sep 30, 2015 This game is absolutely horrid. An embarrassment to the series. And it's not just the glitchy gameplay, or the god awful uncreative levels, or the piss poor attempt at online (or offline) multiplayer.. It's that developer Robomodo completely ignored or changed key gameplay features that have been present since THPS1-4. Including, but not limited to: Removed the ability to bail while manualing or grinding. You just land. There's no risk. Special meter is awful & pointless. Only lasts for a few seconds. You can't choose special tricks, nor do they require special button combos. Because specials are now random tricks, you're forced to do a backflip and fall while trying to grab off of a rail. Special is now activated with L1, meaning you can't spin with L1 unless you want to trigger your special. Spinning is now limited to auto-180 degree spins, which makes it hard to perform longer or precise spins. "Slamming" is now a feature activated by holding triangle/grind. Literally everyone holds grind before entering a grind, but now the slam forces you down to the ground before getting close to the rail. Grinding is entirely too forgiving, sometimes morphing your skater several feet sideways onto the rail. Wallrides are automatic now, which seem to randomly activate when you get close to a wall. Wallrides used to be triangle (which is now slam) which means you now slam down to the ground when trying to wallride. Grinding into a wall no longer continues into a wallride. Reverts no longer cause you to lose speed (Since THPS3, reverts slowed you down each time to increase difficulty). Removed the ability to ollie directly after a revert and continue your combo. Now you're forced to manual first (ollieing after reverts, before manualing, was a technique used to conserve speed during combos). Removed the ability to dropdown while grinding with R2 (technique used by advanced players frequently). You now auto-ollie out of quarterpipes. There's no drop-in feature. Leveling out mid-air seldom works. Wallplants are assigned to a different button and seldom work correctly. No quick turn feature (technique used by advanced players frequently). No wall push feature (technique used by advanced players frequently). No trick variations by double/triple tapping trick buttons. No trick switches by double tapping during grind/manuals. No switching/rotating during a manual. R2 is now push and L2 is now break. Even though Ollie/Down have been those controls since THPS1 and work better. No ability to customize any tricks. Balance meter does not perform the same as traditional THPS games. It will randomly invert and doesn't slightly forgive with each grind/manual (as it has done since THPS2). No get-back-up animations (even THPS1 had them). The screen flashes white and respawns you. And this is all stuff most players won't even notice. This video does a good job giving you a gist of what the average player will experience with THPS5:
Oct 2, 2015 This pretty much sums it up... The no trick variations really piss me off, theres nothing to do after grabbing onto anything. piss poor effort into making a game, they should of just stuck to the mobile game and let some other developer make a big tony hawk game.
Oct 2, 2015 f--- me, i was gonna pick it up when the price dropped to like $15 or $20 but it doesnt even look like its worth it then. im sure itll be free at some point on playstation network. maybe then, if i have the hard drive space.
