Beyond the kanye stuff it's also a really dope look at some behind the scenes 90s/early 2000s Chicago and NY rap.
His Mom seemed so cool. Truly the grounding force in his life. It's sad cuz you look back at young kanye and are like "what the f--- happened to this guy?" He def had an ego back then but it was in an endearing/self-aware way that made you want him to win because he also made you feel like you could win too.
Man this documentary did not end on a good note. Even coodie's positive narration at the end couldn't turn it around. You could tell Ye never recovered after Donda's death and his opinions are way too extreme nowadays.
There was definitely an "old" kanye that we miss now. He kinda used to be happy and more relateable.
2nd episode was really good. It's funny how if he wasn't such an annoying f--- he would have never even put out his first album. You can tell all these guys are just hyping him up cause there's a camera in their face. Dame gave zero s----s about his music. I love how when he ran out of people to talk to him he sees some random 6 year old white kid and is like 'hey I produced the blueprint' lol.
I honestly wouldn't want to see this show him making MBDTF. His ego is so big before he even made it that by that point he was probably unbearable. Late Registration would have been cool to see how he changed from his first big hit and was no longer seen as the underdog
I liked the part where cootie's narration was talking about getting MTV placement and then he paused it for a second and inserted an unrelated Kanye quote where he says "his name is SpongeBob squarepants. that's his whole thing" over random b-roll of Viacom and then cootie continues talking about MTV and nothing else addresses the unrelated SpongeBob quote
Good watch. Always fascinating to see behind the curtains of people that we never see from the public perception that we have of them. Polarising figure to say the least. I hope he finds his passion and happiness one day again. Also to make great music again, get all the leeches away from him and phoning in albums like his last few projects seem to be. The guys creativity is beyond any artist that I know off, just a shame the recent times and his mind state is putting a stop to that.
I watched part 1, thought it was pretty good. It was cool being able to actually see what we’ve heard/been told about Kanye’s early career. I’d watch an entire season of the early stuff tbh.

This is going to change so many peoples thoughts on Kanye. Especially people who didn’t know much of him before the crazy/Kardashian era. It’s so easy right now to instantly label him and write him off.
I was hesitant about this but it instantly hooked me in. I enjoy plenty of his songs but never went through his discography. I am about to change that.. will document my experience.
