The rest of the staff and I put together a list of the 25 most essential albums of the decade that you can read here. This is the topic where you can talk s--- about our list and b---- about why TPAB isn't 10/10 number one already. But on the real, we made this list to open up the conversation, and we'd love to see you comment on and critique our's, as well as post your own lists.

    Thanks to @Hasman, @Blaza, @Narsh, @captain awesome, @Skippy, @helpmefam, @CharlieWork, and @Slyk for their contributions/help deliberating (sorry if I missed anyone).

I only have 2 complaints, not a big deal. The list turned out pretty good imo as I said earlier. People should realise that something can be great and/or very entertaining without being their cup of tea. Also, all these records made a few waves; I wouldn't recommend J. Cole to someone because I don't listen to him and his progress as a rapper hasn't been impressive, but he's undeniably among the biggest rappers rn, he has a loyal fanbase and his music is decent. Rich g---'s tape was great, Mac Miller's 2013 run was amazing, etc etc. Just because you don't like it, you can't dismiss it. The write-ups are good, the list has variety, and I guess it's more difficult to do it when you have to find common ground with different people. The list can inform the casual listener about some of the best recent records, about the hype of new crews like ASAP or Pro Era, new rappers like Thugger etc

Ok, my first complaint is the absence of Open Mike Eagle ofc. I'm guessing he's not very popular or well known, but he's released nothing but quality projects in the last few years. I understand that there's only room for 25, but he deserves one of the (highest) spots here, especially since billy woods made it (I'm mentioning him because he also released great music - solo and with Armand Hammer - and he's even more obscure probably). I think that Dark Comedy, or maybe something else from MMG should make the list. Apollo Brown has been putting too much work, and all their rappers/producers are capable. You can see this thread if you want to check out the label's last album.

The second isn't a biggie, but I'd like to see Distant Relatives by Nas and Damian Marley. It certainly shows that Nas still got it in this new decade (after this he made Life Is Good which was good but kinda underwhelming and he's preparing a new album for the latter half of this year I think). Also, it's a great record with a reggae vibe, the chemistry between Nas and Damian is there, and the guests make a good contribution.

Dessa is one of my favourite artists and I appreciate not only her music but her other activites too (poetry etc). Maybe I'm a hipster, but I'm certainly not mad that she was "ignored". Her albums are easily better than Death Grips' though, and are certainly good enough for a top-* list.

Big LOL @ people bitching about Yeezus. If it wasn't made by Ye no one would hate this much. I'd like to mention clipping. and their album titled CLPPNG now, because they have a kinda similar sound which some people may like (Death Grips fans will like it I think, it's not as heavy though). It's a good album.

Also, there's no reason to b---- on someone like Sinatra because he hasn't listened to Undun. The kid's like 15 years old, he's not living in the USA, he's a casual rap listener (with some r-----ed opinions, mainly about Eminem and Logic). The point is that he's willing to look more into rap instead of being dismissive and listening to the same stuff. Not everyone is familiar with the rappers that you grew up with.

I might post an unranked list later

i definitely agree with Pinata being better than GKMC. GKMC has been overrated a little bit as far as being a "flawless classic". There are quite a few songs on there that have to be considered flaws. a few songs are pretty bad including Real, Compton or good kid. the rest of the songs are great obviously but I've never been into Poetic Justice that much or Sing About Me I’m Dying of Thirst. Not to say they are bad songs they just aren't my cup of tea. the rest of the album is ATG stuff.

on the other hand Pinata is pretty much flawless imo each and every song is objectively good. they're both high quality albums though and there probably isn't much seperating them. I just find myself revisiting Pinata more than GKMC. GKMC is nice if I have time to listen to the whole thing, it's obviously dope conceptually but it's lost some of it's shine for me

nobody's going to fully love the list. those people like me who love cole think 2014 FHD should be on there, but is it essential? people who love the drill scene prolly want some lil' bibby & old keef on there. nobody's gunna be satisfied. i may be biased because i wrote for this, but bottom line, it is a great list. :coleshh:

I thought "RTJ" stood for Rip the Jacker and there was a sequel, was confused for multiple pages about why Canibus was being discussed
