Anyone here ever been to Hawaii? My new wife and I are going on our honeymoon from Dec. 29 - Jan. 9. We are spending the first 5 days in Honolulu on Waikiki Beach and the next 5 in Maui near Lahaina/Kaanapali. Looking for some ideas on things to do and places to go. Thanks gents.

Where do you usually stay? We rented a convertible for our time there on recommendation from a coworker. We plan to do the Road to Hana/Bamboo forest one day. Have you been to the Haleakala crater and waterfall? The pictures online look crazy so we will probably do that too. Got the Luau booked at our resort too. I'd like to try surfing on Maui but people I've talked to say it's better near Honolulu. Our days on that island are more booked though.

I stay at the Ritz Carlton and the days inn on the beach that used to be called something else.

They paddle board on Maui. I don't do a lot of driving in Maui I just snorkel in front of my hotel and appreciate paradise.

We are staying at the Royal Lahaina just 10 minutes south of the Ritz. Interesting about paddle boarding, I could give that a try. Is that preferred in Maui since the waves are tame?

Haven't been there since 2008 so I really don't remember any names but it's hard to go wrong there, lots of really nice places to eat. Make sure you go to a Luau too, those are awesome.

Went to maui for a month, really nice there. I don't know how it compares to the main island but maui has some fantastic views when you drive through the mountains

With a convertible rental vehicle, I'd like to cover as much of the island as we can one day. A coworker went and said that if you take the time to stop into local town restaurants, the locals love visitors because they don't get as many as the main hubs do.
