I can’t pretend the Rodeo and more importantly Days before aren’t amazing and literal f---ing classics. So many memories with both. The sound was fresh and new and there were amazing moments and artistry on these 2 projects. Owl Pharoah too honestly.
Itt let’s talk about the songs from these projects and how much they b---

This is my favorite example of his strength as a curator. I don't think anyone else ever thought of the idea of combining trap 808s and Thundercat's funky bass together, this blended out much better than I think even he expected.
I don't mind him myself, he's not the iconoclastic groundbreaker most paint him out to be, but that's okay, he doesn't have to be one to begin with. Just let him have fun, and so should you, enjoy the $6.00 meal at a Mickey D's near you and tell em Cactus Jack sent youskip, Alpha, dkdnfbdjdkdddjdjfvcgfl and 6 others like this. -

Rodeo was unironically my fav album OAT for a while not only cause it was a classic record with life changing songs like 90210, nightcrawler, Maria I’m drunk etc but also cause it made me acknowledge trap as a great genre (used to listen to only a handful of rappers associated w Eminem and other lyrical miracle cornballs before). I guess I hold it up so high still cause it was an intro for great music to me
as squid said I think DBR, Rodeo and even BITTSM was the best Travis era. Never thought he’d become as big as he is now tho good for him.
this is still an underrated classic:

It’s always just felt like a lifeless piece of work where one song bleeds into the other to make one boring experience. I know it was always present, but I feel like this is really where his “dark” aesthetic peaked in a very uninteresting way. Before this, his music felt fleshed out and fun and almost layered a bit more. At this point, Astro world has already been announced before as his next project and was hyped to be an opus of sort. I’ve always felt like this was just filler to lead into Astro world and hold people over.
It’s peak “make that s--- dark” and frankly overall just uninteresting at least to medkdnfbdjdkdddjdjfvcgfl, DKC, Guma and 3 others like this. -

That McDonalds s--- is literally the McJordan repackaged. But it works. It’s perfectly marketed to sneaker reseller culture. I saw a video of a kid stealing the Travis Scott burger poster. We’ve already seen the power of that type of fast food viral marketing with the Mulan sauce, Popeyes chicken sandwich.Guma, Ordinary Joel, RetiredAccount and 2 others like this. -

I don't mind him being the poster child of commercial hip hop next to drake. At least he delievers album wise and his music still got soul in it (excluding some recent singles) unlike drake's. BITTSM got better with time and Astroworld is a great piece of work too. I don't care about that McDonalds thing, people shouldn't eat that poison in the first place. Feel kinda bad for the employees that have to deal with 15yr old ragers ordering travis' meal in the most r-----ed ways, even though the recordings on instagram always make me laughAlpha, Thy, Ordinary Joel and 2 others like this. -

Yeah I agree, the whole things f----- up. I know people are saying it’s been done before but between this and fortnite and the Nike stuff it’s like he’s being forced down our throats from all angles. Capitalism is an odd spot right now and they found the perfect person to market to us (kids specifically).

Reseller culture is also a huge problem. I think my grudge with Travis himself is that he brought in clout culture in a sense and kind of ruined things for people who actually care about the cultureAlpha, Guma and Ordinary Joel like this. -

f---ing peak. Nobody captures contemporary moments in life quite like Travis. Nobody. So many snapshots of great times come from Rodeo, Birds and Astro.
Gonna sound stupid but until you’ve actually been the highest in the room, with this playing, don’t tell me you understand this song. Travis is one of the most important artists of this generation. Don’t care how commercial he is. What he’s done since 2015 is unfuckingdeniable.Thy, Jeans and Ordinary Joel like this. -
