I agree with everything except 50 falling off musically. That didn't happen. What did happen was Jimmy Iovine(and to an extent Dre) had the guy blacked balled and threatened to blackball any producers/rappers that worked with him. That’s the reason for the lack of music. The exception is Eminem who is too big to be told anything... BUT... there's a reason they haven't officially done anything in over a decade.
I love Rick Ross but at the end of the day I feel that I'm The Man is better than any song Ross has put out since 2010.Last edited: Aug 26, 2020 -

Why is this even a debate? Lol. 50 is light years ahead of Ross. 50 is a natural born talent at making good records and has classics to prove it and lived the life he rapped about. Ross is mediocre af whose artists below him are way better than him. Ross is a actor first and foremost then a rapper. 50 is the exact opposite and in a different league. But that’s just me. -

50 Cent wins easily.
It's difficult to describe just how big 50 was around the time GRODT and Massacre dropped but anyone who was around knows.
50 Cent and the whole G-Unit brand was everywhere. You had people wearing their shoes, clothing, there was the 50 Cent videogame, you heard his music play everywhere. Even parents knew who he was.
Simply put GRODT is a masterpiece. The Massacre is up there as well. Nothing that Ross ever did can even come close to either of those albums. 50 was just on a whole other level during that time. Even when listening to Power Of The Dollar (2000) and the mixtapes he had in the early 2000s it's easy to see how he became so successful.rapmusik, RetiredAccount, BlueWorldOrder and 4 others like this.May 9, 2026(This ad goes away when signing up) -

most likely cause 50 got pissed Dre never promoted him with his own line of beats. Then 50 came out with his own headphone line which I think pissed dre off and he talked s--- about Jimmy Iovine and I'm pretty sure he was black balled cause of that

Hmm, I while I feel that both careers diverged in different directions, feels like 50 has that I made the better album argument that sort of settles the dust for me personally. His contributions even before GRODT cements him as one of the greats, paradigm shifting mixtapes and a rapping style that went on to be duplicated for awhile.
Although it needs to be said Ross has the more consistent body of work though. I'm sorry Big Country, but my bias got in the way here

It debuted second behind Recovery, which was still hitting #1 two months after its release lol. Teflon Don sold more than his previous album both first week and overall and is his most acclaimed album to this day.
Also, Before I Self Destruct came out like two months before the beef and he was already talking about SKI like a year later—not like he was really out of the game at that point.
Maybe what Winter said is more what I mean:
Cuz I definitely remember Officer Ricky more than Ross's diss, but at the end of the day Ross went on to have debatably the best year of his career thus far with Teflon Don and placements on MBDTF.
To me it seemed like grasping at relevance for 50 which made it feel kinda pathetic to me. I always felt like 50's plan sorta backfired cuz more people were taking about Ross than they had been in a couple years and clearly no one cared about the CO thing when his album dropped or when they heard his MBDTF verses. Cuz it's just like...ok cool, 50 said meaner/funnier things about Ross in the moment (that didn't really affect his career), but he (still) hasn't made a good album since 2005, so who cares?Rodamon, Zeugma, Fire Squad and 3 others like this. -

5 votes for Ross? so i post on a website that is shared by 5 vagina-between-legs wielding fa---- c----? or what?
also you dipshits dont know how legal cases work. "OH MY GOD! 50 GOT NOTHING FOR IN DA CLUB ON ROSS MIXTAPE LMAO LLLLL!" no you fucken idiots. 50 has too much money. he can throw it away. Ross pretends he does. the legal costs were far more damaging to Ross than 50. Hence why Ross is still pumping out fucken s--- c---- albums to remake his lost finacnes while 50 is doing whatever the f--- he wants without care of the risks involved, in literally any industry/platform he wants.JohnMarston02, FiveOh1, Ordinary Joel and 2 others like this. -

There are definitely people who never warmed up to Ross due to his past. 50 didn't "Ja Rule" him but to say it did absolutely nothing to derail his career isn't anywhere near true. 50 doesn't do music anymore because he makes a s--- load of money by putting up hashtags for liquor in instagram posts and getting more into TV/Movies. I believe all of 50s albums have gone platinum. Ross's last album (I don't know one single off of it) sold 80K first week and he's only had one album go platinum. 50 was already in a steep decline which is probably why Officer went at him, he thought it was going to be an easy W. Fif took the W based on actual diss records, but Ross music advanced because of 50.
