May 3, 2018 This. Also, look at rappers that have garnered critical acclaim and stardom for their earlier works and have been around as long (or longer than) Eminem. Off the top of my head, this list includes Ice Cube, Nas, and Jay-Z, but there are others. Despite some questionable and middling late career work, none of them has so throughly tarnished their earlier body of work by consistently releasing embarrassing verses and albums like Eminem has. Jay-Z’s 4:44, in particular, shows that a veteran rapper with clearly diminished technical prowess can craft a good album after >20 years in the game.

May 3, 2018 if you can't appreciate the lyrical genius of "s--- is real like i pooped jerusalem" idk what to tell you man. the reason he raps about poop a lot is because like money, violence, and sex (which he also raps about a lot), poop is something that has lots and lots of slang terms and euphemisms in modern english, which means he can do bar after bar on the same subject while still mixing up his diction, giving him a chance to flex his rhyming ability. subjects that are too serious or too niche don't give you as much freedom to play around with the rhymes, either because the content doesn't ask to be played around with, or because there aren't really enough interesting words to do so
