Jan 10, 2018I'm going to give you guys a thorough review of this album so y'all will finally shut up about it.
Disclaimer: I am not an eminem hater. He used to be my favorite artist and I came into this with an open mind because MMLP2 was somewhat decent.
Scale: 10/10 is Stan Tier & 0/10 is Fack level.
Walk on Water [3/10]
Piano was generic and the message is delusional. He's rapping about how he's essentially not good anymore (and proceeds to show us how far he's fallen in the following tracks) and ends with a cringy line about writing Stan? He still lives in the past and that's been hurting him for quite some time. Beyonce is the only redeeming quality about this track.
Believe [6/10]
I like the instrumental here and he has some interesting lines especially towards the end. But some of the bars are painfully corny and the hook isn't great either. Had a lot of potential but failed to follow through.
Chloraseptic [2/10]
This track just sounds bad. Eminem's flow is either robotic or a really bizarre attempt at copying the migos. Cringeworthy lines throughout and the hook is god awful. Eminem has only 1 other rapper on the album and he doesn't even rap. It seems as if eminem is shying away from competition especially since he took a good 2 chainz verse off this album.
Untouchable [1/10]
This song is a disaster. The first 20 seconds of the track almost intrigued me, then I was ear r---d by BLACK BOY BLACK BOY. The voice he uses is god awful and is sonic diarrhea. The second part is almost as bad with his robotic flow and corny message. I 100% support BLM and want to end police brutality. I can tell you that a song like this helps no one and even puts out dumb suggestions like more black cops will make things better when Ice Cube literally said "Black police showing out for the white cop" in the 90's.
River [3/10]
Generic beat. Typical Ed Sheeran hook. Robotic angry eminem. Some decent lines here and there but this track is forgettable.
Remind Me / Remind Me Intro [1/10]
This song is awful. Why would you sample this song like this? I feel like he keeps doing this same type of raunchy sex song over and over with progressively worse instrumentals. And the Heavy Duty line? Honestly I should've given this song a 0.
Revival Interlude / Like Home [3/10]
Another generic Trump diss track (I hate trump but this song is just terrible) with a glossy instrumental. Eminem is reaching new levels of corniness. Compare this track with mosh, he no longer has any edge or creativity and has succumb to generic pop ballads. He has lost all originality on this album and we aren't even halfway through the album.
Bad Husband [1/10]
Another pop ballad with corny lyrics. The hook makes me want to puke, the whole good dad and a bad husband is the worst humble brag I've ever heard in a song. Eminem is essentially saying "yeah I know I was abusive and made your life a living nightmare but hey our kids turned out decent!" It's almost 2018 and eminem is still talking about Kim...
Tragic Endings [2/10]
And now a pop rock ballad with Skylar Grey, knew she'd turn up at some point. I've heard eminem songs like this before, none have been good. Once again more angry eminem bars that feel empty because of his god awful delivery.
Framed [5/10]
This song isn't great but it's interesting and the instrumental is good. I can actually stomach the hook on this song. His delivery on some of the bars for this song aren't terrible either. Good nowhere near great.
Nowhere Fast [2/10]
I'm running out of talking points. This is f---ing awful.
Heat [0/10]
Just read my review for remind me and make it worse. Eminem has lost me completely.
Offended [3/10]
Some good bars and flows, a lot of horrible ones, and 1 clusterfuck of a hook to ruin the entire song.
Need Me [1/10]
This song is really just P!nk ft. Eminem. Overproduced and corny as can be in content. This may be one of the worst eminem songs ever made.
In Your Head [2/10]
Lazy sampling of a great song. Demo quality at best.
Castle [7/10]
Probably the best song on this album. Touching lyrics and a nice flow as well. I enjoy the instrumental but the problem I have is he's reliving the past once again on an album that was supposed to be about his revival and new beginnings. Still a good track.
Arose [5/10]
Decent track but this isn't the first time eminem has rapped about being on his deathbed. It doesn't make sense in the grand scheme of the album.
Final Verdict:
This is one of the worst albums I've ever heard from an artist that once had some credibility. Eminem is once again stuck in the past and out of ideas. It's unoriginal, horribly produced, corny as h---, nowhere near cohesive, the list goes on and on. Eminem needs to either retire or find a new creative team / new producers.
