    This album is the quintessential X project, plenty of legitimate talent and good tunes but with a few duds and all of it masqueraded as this super deep "tfw to intelligent" vibe that turns normal ppl away

    Also Jocelyn Flores beat was stolen from the front page of r/hhh

    Nah the producer is his friend, he made it for him but also released it himself- at least thats what he said on twitter

    The fact that he dismisses all the post-Gucci rappers (migos,future), the fact that he thinks projects like Rodeo are legitimately groundbreaking artsy spins on the trap subgenre, etc

    He has the exact same level of taste as high schoolers who rock supreme and carve ofwgkta into bathroom stalls

    He's reviewed old records and seemed knowledgeable to me. Then again I wasn't listening with the intent to prove he was talking out of his a--- or anything.

    Ya but reviewing old records is easy because everything there is to say has already been said. And that's not to say fantano is always wrong there's a handful of reviews/specific talking points I've agreed w him on but the overall scope of rap music he can review without a negative bias is smaller than what id expect from someone who makes their living off of talking about rap.

    And ftr I didn't go into every shitthony posttano review with the intent of disagreeing when I first heard of him I gave him a fair shot

    To clarify, my argument is that he is uneducated and biased. The fact that I don't credit his reviews of older albums very highly isn't a cause of that view, it's a symptom of it. My argument makes perfect sense, use your critical reading skills.

    Edit: btw I'm not saying I'm right by saying my argument makes sense I'm just saying you're misinterpreting my posts

    Uh yeah sure but I feel like it's an easily proven point. Find me any review of modern street rappers (guys like dolph, glizzy, maxo) in which he provides valid reasoning behind his sweeping dismissiveness of all of them. Then juxtapose those comments against his comments on ppl like Tupac and biggie and all the established street rappers, who share many of the same elements (but when they do it he praises it because that's the established viewpoint and he doesn't TRULY understand all the things that make those guys great but has a sense of obligatory reverence towards them)

    Tldr it's easy to notice the positives of established and respected albums because the positives are, well, established. But with new releases fantano doesn't get the luxury of aping those smarter than him so the cracks in his knowledge begin to show.

    my point is everyone can have opinions, I think its dumb to compare current 'street' rappers to the street rappers of the 90's tbh. I like YG and fantano gave Still Brazy an 8 so he doesn't really s--- on street rap it may be more the musical style he doesn't like.

    I don't disagree w u I'm just saying that someone who makes it their livelihood to provide in depth critical analysis on rap shouldn't have to fall back on the "it's just my opinion bro" argument, there's plenty of critics who I don't see eye to eye w who at least make sensible and consistent observations, fantano is not one of them
