    Disorderly Progress What's cookin?

    True.

I think that has to do with his confidence to be honest, his artistic confidence.

Once he got angry @ the Infinite response and came back with the initial Shady style... he had plain sailing until Encore. But the response he got to what became the SSLP style was immensely positive, impacted the entire game... so then he just progressed it on MMLP / max'd it for a genius concept album, and he was super confident. So when he had the vision of tributing 70s rock with TES and evolving like he did... he just naturally spew the s--- out of him and felt confident he was onto THE s---.

He definitely cares a lot about what people think, and what hip-hop thinks of him and his music. I feel like he got spun-out with Relapse, when that didn't land as intended, after really thinking he'd found gold after much experimenting in his downtime... that must have really knocked him back, then he does Recovery - and although it gets a good commercial response... he must know it wasn't a home run critically or with fans... So he did a 180, did what he thought people wanted, and still failed...

That's pretty much the first time he's done that, and he said he made about 100 songs for Recovery, which is a lot. But then when that didn't fully land as 'this is THEE s--- to rap fans' either... I bet that's why he made so many songs for MMLP2. Because two albums in a row he tried hard and totally different things, and it didn't work. Probably why he did like 300 + songs for MMLP2, and seemed totally exhausted by it. And that STILL didn't fully land either.

f--- knows how much he's stressed out about this new s---. I have a feeling the whole point of Shady XV was to just have a free pass @ testing out new styles on the public without the risk of another album, which is probably why all his solo songs there are such extremely different styles. So I definitely think he used that, and Southpaw as testing grounds and has been recording god knows how much music for the past 3 years.

s--- better be a classic. f---ing needs to go out on a classic.

I think he is on the spectrum and that's why he records so many songs now....can't quite fell like he nailed it. Even he calls himself rainman.

When he says "I made 200 songs for this album" I often wonder what merits a different song. Surely some of them are variations of the same song, i.e. same verses worked in different ways on different beats?

You have to remember that in the 90s and into the early 2000s Eminem still recorded onto tape, as did Dre. It wasn't until after the Eminem show that they really embraced computers and to be honest, if you can make simple beats and I'm sure he has many, it's very easy for him to step in a booth and record the vocals. They wouldn't have wasted tape and studio time on songs that were never gonna be anything. When he says 200 songs, I don't believe for a second they are full 4,5 minute songs with full 42 second verses and 20 second choruses and intros and outros. When he says 200 songs I'm thinking a minute, 2 minutes max, couple of verses and hooks on a very basic beat with a melody that can be worked on if he choosed to expand on it and I wouldn't be surprised if Dre was the same, Rick Rubin or any producer infact was the same. They are not gonna waste hours and hours perfecting beats and sounds for him to record vocals and then then throw it away.

200 demos maybe, very quick demos.

Maybe 30-40 full length songs where the beats are near enough complete and he's maybe recorded backing vocals and ad libs and it's full enough that you wouldn't have to do much to finish it off.

Down to the standard 20 tracks for an album which really are finished, they sound good, mixed well, the vocals have probably been done properly and are all the best they can be, that's what makes the album.

That's realistically what has probably happened.

Social media happened. That's what happened to Eminem and you have people like a lot of the people on this forum with big f---ing mouths and loud voices and let me tell you something, just because someone has a big mouth doesn't mean they speak for everyone. People on this forum and other forums bitching and moaning to Royce and Paul Rosenberg and recording Youtube videos and commenting in comment sections of popular magazines and websites caused them to pay attention for once. If Eminem had done his own thing just like he always did he would have been just fine but of course people have to Tweet and they have to write and moan and of course people like Royce and I'm sure Paul Rosenberg repeat all that back to him, so and so said this and that and they don't like this and they don't like that and he has tried to please everyone and can't do it. It's never gonna be good enough.

But rather than listening to the millions of fans that do buy the music, rather than listen to the tens of thousands of fans that buy tickets for his shows, his solo shows, his festival shows, the ones that sing along to these tracks, they focus on the smallest group with the largest voice and with all due respect to fans on internet forums, most fans on internet forums don't pay for music. They don't go and buy CDs or records. Many are too young to even have that kind of money. Most people here are under 20 years old, weren't even old enough to have experienced Eminem the first time round yet they have an opinion and a mouth and unfortunately they decide to listen to people like that.

The best thing Eminem could do is take his time before releasing anything else and maybe make it one last album and then retire. The old Eminem will never be there again. The Relapse album was the last time we saw him. If i was him I would call it a day and know that my legacy lived on and look at the chart music today. Look at the songs on the radio. Go and look at the singles chart. No one cares about rap music or hip hop music. The last time anyone cared about rap music was in 2008 with Akon and The Black Eyed Peas and 50 Cent and The Game lol. That's it. It's nearly 10 years ago. The world has moved on. Society has moved on. Just let it be. Let it rest. Let it be what it was. It's not coming back again, it's not gonna be popular again. It's not gonna change lives. Hip hop used to change lives, it's not gonna change lives anymore that's why no one listens to it anymore.

And I say that as a huge Eminem fan. The last time the general public cared about hip hop was 10 years ago and where's Akon? Where's The Black Eyed Peas? 50 Cent? The Game? P Diddy? They're at home enjoying life. Mixtapes? When was the last time any of you seen or heard a mixtape? It's over with. It is what it is and social media is a huge part of why the Recovery album came around and everything there after. I can still remember how happy Eminem was in those Relapse interviews, he was so happy to release that album, he was so happy to release 2 albums in the same year, 2 Relapse albums in the year 2009 and the internet morons had to ruin it. Everything since was an effort, a half hearted effort.
