It was depressing mostly cause of his health issues.. Such dark times for a person having to deal with his best friend's death and be so heavy on drugs that cant even remember his life back then..
Musically he was kinda involved in many things but nothing special.. His guest verses was like a ghost of himself trying to rap. And that was way more vivid back then considering how big em was up until 04.
Even the industry didnt felt the same during that hiatus. I remember waiting for a feature or something to remind me a bit of good old em but even on re up he sounded like he was done with it.
I remember when em got hospitalized and obie getting shot in the head, I honestly thought he will never gonna make it after that even when he survived od.
It was really depressing to see prime em getting down the spiral like that musically combined with all those personal issues. -

Around the Encore Era I started praying for Em. It didn’t make sense to me at the time how he went from The Eminem Show Em to Encore Em I assumed he was doing drugs at the time around that time. Also after the 8 mile sound track and D12 world you can hear his music going downhill (Even tho Encore had some gems in it) After Proof died and I seen Em on MTV performing “You don’t know” with 50 Cent and Shady Records I knew Em was using heavy drugs such as Percocet and Vicodin probably klonopin and Valium too. He couldn’t even talk or speak like normal Em!!! I felt so bad for him and prayed I hope that this wasn’t the last I would ever get to see my idol Marshall he’s in a bad place. After the random features he was in around 2006-2007 I still had hope for him. I do believe the government killed off the real Em after Encore with him exposing the government and Proof dying (An Illuminati ritual) in Like Toy Soldiers video with the free Masonic funeral for proof and him dying in real life hit Em and he must of overdosed but I believe they cloned him to keep making music before he died. Then I read he was working on Relapse I’m like yes Em is back. I seen the first picture of We Made You And was like “That’s not even the real Eminem! Wtf I’m not stupid! They I seen him and knew it wasn’t the original Em. But I’m still impressed with the clone he’s still got Marshall in him the original and that’s all that matters!SLAYAR, accountno24572 and Z Gangsta like this.Mar 20, 2026(This ad goes away when signing up) -

I herd EM in 99 when he came out. I never thought the hiatus was THAT bad. Bc from a release standpoint, he had material release almost annually
99-SSLP
00-MMLP
01-devils night
02-Eminem Show
03-8 mile soundtrack. Features on cheers, and GRODT
04- Encore, D12 World
05- Curtain Call
06- Re Up
07
08(announced album)
09 relapse and refill
10 recovery
11 HTS
12
13- MMLP2
14- Shady Xv
15-SouthPaw soundtrack
16
17- Revival
18-Kamikaze
Plus all the features hes had. He hasnt really gone a long time without having ANY material out. Theres just gaps between solo albums. Only thing I hated during the 04 to 09 hiatus was the rise of the south. I'm from Louisville so I've always herd it. And I don't mean all of the south but alot of the dance songs, and the f---ing syrup soundtracks that rose to popularity around that time annoyed me. But I always feel like ppl over exaggerate his hiatus'SLAYAR, THE LAST DANCE and ETERNAL like this. -

I remember this time well. Perhaps this was one of the best times for the development of rap and hip-hop. Akon, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, 50 Cent and a lot of cool rap. Even Eminem sometimes released something, several tracks a year, and these tracks sounded cooler than all that he releases today.
Eminem recorded the best rap album of all time King Mathers LP, which he never released. I'm still waiting since 2007 when he releases King Mathers LP.Cudder, Marshall III and ETERNAL like this.Mar 20, 2026(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Back in relapse era he didnt mess with wordplay and double/triple entendre. That started with recovery in a clumsy way and evolved into what we have today, layers under layers of multiple meanings in a line. Thats really impressive but its a different style from relapse so its not a fair comparisment.Z Gangsta, Marshall III and SLAYAR like this. -
