Eminem's imitation of Slim Shady is so far from what he was it's silly. Man thinks it's just dad jokes & beating women up.

Well, I have already talked about this years ago but yess. There is no denying that Recovery's incredibly huge success kinda changed the whole thing with Shady. Have to remember how huge was Recovery before anything else here. Even some songs such as Won't Back Down charted on some sites and radios. Not Afraid and Love The Way You Lie both are 2 of Em's very few songs to pass 1 billion views on YouTube. They both gone diamond (not sure if Not Afraid did but it's matter of time if it didn't yet). To put them in perspective, I can easily say those 2 are the biggest Em songs ever (can include Lose Yourself into this too but whatever.) Not just those 2, no Love almost has as much views as his latest biggest singles. That album was huge somehow. I'm not even mentioning the overall album sales worldwide.

As we all know, Recovery was very different sonically compared to his previous work Relapse. Many poppy beats with guitar tunes, loud beats, loud rapping, almost a female pop hook on every song... They thought what made Recovery a huge success were those things. They were kinda right but not entirely. Because there were much more to it than just the actual sound of the album. It was an Eminem album with a great promo run and a lot more listenable, mainstream first single (Not Afraid) and second single just was still handsome Eminem featuring the world's biggest pop star at the time Rihanna for the first time on a love song! It was huge thing back then. No wonder people were too interested in it. But to think, other rappers would blow up with the same formula was very dumb thinking. Yelawolf's Radioactive, SH's Our house all went that same pop route, but unfortunately non of them did good. Non of the albums were bad, I loved Radioactive, but Love Story was 20 times better and felt a lot more authentic. It felt like art. But let me say this, yela would never blown up anyway. Daddy's Lambo, Pop The Trunk, they all had good runs and it seemed like the guy had potential but he just went to completely different sound in few years and Love Story kinda sound would never blow up today.

As for SH, I never thought they would have made it. They simply didn't have it. They could have given a better hip hop album but they did or advised to did a poppy sounding album when they have no ability to be mainstream and they kinda flopped harder than Yela did. The album was worse too. It wasn't bad per se but it doesn't worth listenin lol.

So in overall, of course Recovery effected the whole sound of the label a lot in that era. They thought it was all about poppy nice beats and good generic female hooks but no, it was about Eminem, a complete new side to him and his story, giving other people a hand with very brilliantly executed Not Afraid single, it was about him collabing with Rihanna and making a love song that I'm pretty sure many people thought it was actually about Rihanna and Eminem at first lol. (yes, mainstream people don't know much about those stuff) It was all the new, exciting and done by the most well known artists in the business. They should have known it wouldn't work with Yela or SH. Btw, I don't think anything would made those guys blow up at the time.Let's not overthink about it.

A real Em fan can't want Recovery 2 from him because the whole MTBMB album is easily the best one since TES.

His core of fans has shrunk and gotten a lot older.. the new generation doesn’t listen to Eminem as much. That’s why he has fallen in the standings. Sales never mattered to me when I was growing up, I just listened to what I liked. Now it’s all I see people on here talking about like it’s like a score card. Eminem has tons of respect in this rap game and the reason he still sells physical copies more then anyone else is because his fan base is that old and set in their ways. They all stream now yeah but they collect.. the physical product. It’s a habit and a hobby, we use to collect hockey cards and baseball cards, Pokémon cards and Pogs.. now all I see them collecting is mini hand sanitizers haha.

The fact that Baby & Groundhog day are only on the deluxe version of MMLP2, while songs like a------ and Stronger Than I Was made the cut is actually ridiculous.

They’ve managed to get the audio straight from the interface which includes the live band & Eminem’s vocals. Probably the most enjoyable live performance to watch/listen to because of this. His band is phenomenal.

Evil Deeds & Mosh especially are insane.

Never Love Again is lowkey the best song on MTBMB. (My opinion) the first 2 verses 12 /10. Straight fire.

I think we should do a monthly poll again on MTBMB which song is now the best. Anyone down?

Yeah I think it’s his best video since rap god. Genuinely fun, creatively done.

Yeah man granted mtv isn’t what it was but it’s a fun metric. Back in 1999, when he was first nominated, dudes like David Bowie and Lenny kravitz were still getting nominated. Korn. Prince and Paul McCartney presented. Kinda crazy!
