Recently I've relistened some albums from that era (namely the Slaughterhouse self-titled album, Trunk Muzik 0-60 by Yelawolf, and Success Is Certain by Royce), and it pains me how much potential got wasted because of label politics.
Yelawolf had mainstream appeal (Pop the Trunk and Daddy's Lambo were everywhere back then), had skills, and was overall a very unique artist. Radioactive was not a bad album at all, but it had nothing to do with his unique style, and felt more like a continuation of Em's Recovery. The production is way too poppy, and there's a feature (mostly pop singers) on almost every song. I understand that the label wanted to ride the success of Recovery, but allowing him to do his own thing and put out something like TMR or Love Story as a debut album would've made him much more successful.
The same goes for Slaughterhouse. I remember how big deal it was when four of the underground greats came together to form a supergroup. Their self-titled debut album was hard, continuing that line with a major label backing them would've made them huge. Kendrick has proven that a gritty style with good lyricism can still give you mainstream success. Like Radioactive, Welcome To Our House was not a bad album, but its sound was compromised and it was nothing like what fans had been expecting from these four. I hate how Glass House never got released, I'm sure Shady Records gave them more artistic freedom on it like with Yela's Love Story.
I feel like Shady could've dominated rap music inbthe early 2010s again like in the early 2000s, but they f----- up by not giving their artists enough freedom. GRODT was so good because it was 100% raw 50 Cent. In 2009-2011, it felt like something huge was building up, but it never came to fruition.Pearly Marshmallow, TheAQU4M4N, Reed Richards and 1 other person like this. - Jun 30, 2025

I personally think he mimicked the flow and created new verses for ShadyXV. And then just went with the story of finding old verses. I don't believe that the ONLY unreleased song ever released from Shady Records is this and not something we all know is already out there and want.lil uzi vert stan, Marshall III, Spatula and 1 other person like this. -
