Apr 19, 2021 Kanye and Lil Wayne were known only to young people during their prime. But these rappers had no adult fans. Eminem and 50 Cent had adult fans, young fans and a huge number of people who wanted to be like them. Kanye and Wayne is just about pop music, about pop hits, these rap artists weren't cult or idols for young people, they were just pop artists with popular songs.
Apr 19, 2021 People outside of the US will not be able to name a single Lil Wayne and Kanye song that they have released over the past few years.
Apr 19, 2021 Wayne had LilWayneHQ full of stans. Bet a lot were foreign people that enjoyed how he blew up with C3/YM, and his features with pretty much everyone in the music industry.
Apr 19, 2021 Yeah. But their music isn't as popular as it used to be. Same thing would happen with Em. People would mention LTWYL, The Monster or Rap God. Maybe Godzilla if were lucky lol
Apr 19, 2021 Yeah, just kidding lol I don't know anything about Mexican music, but I've been listening to a lot of Selena since I watched her series on Netflix.
Apr 19, 2021 Most people who were fans of Eminem 20 or even 10 years ago now don't like his new music. Over the past few years, Eminem has gained a few new fans listening to his new albums and has lost a lot of old fans who were with him from the very beginning of his career until the release of MMLP2.
Apr 19, 2021 That song River with Ed Sheeran topped charts across the planet but Sheeran was ultra hot back then so maybe that's why. How popular was Lucky You and Killshot where you're from when it came out cause, here in the USA, it made Eminem super famous for a hot moment and it even sparked a 4 part interview with Sway lol.
Apr 19, 2021 Kamikaze album and the singles from the Kamikaze album were not as popular as the Revival album and the singles from the Revival album. People outside of Eminem's fanbase mostly only knew the Venom song they heard after watching the movie. And it's all. At best, people still know about Godzilla song, but they don't even know that this is a song from his last album. Most people don't even know that Eminem released albums after Revival. Revival had a lot of promotions and fame. In recent years, Eminem has only started making music exclusively for the United States, which is why he has lost popularity outside of the United States. Eminem has almost no international hits these days, as it did in the 2000s and early 2010s. It seems like Eminem doesn't care about his international fans anymore, so he makes songs like Fall, Lucky You, Killshot, Gnat, Darkness and s--- that only people from the USA mostly like. He became a local rapper and lost his international status.
Apr 19, 2021 Lol...you just contradicted yourself. And this is objectively untrue. Kamikaze and MTBMB are just as big if not bigger outside the USA than in it. Side B wasn't big internationally but that's basically a bonus. Em never lost his international presence just like Pac didn't just because he died. That's not how it works. Em isn't as hot as he was in the past but his fandom is still strong af lol.
Apr 19, 2021 We're talking outside of the US. They obviously big in there. I don't think people here have heard an Em record since The Monster and Rap God. People in general, not rap fans who keep up with the genre. River was big in the UK. Here, not at all.
Apr 19, 2021 Lucky You has just 160 million YouTube views after 2 years. Fall only 192 million views, 2 years later. Darkness just 55 million views a year later. Gnat 53 million views after 4 months (but outside of the US, no one is interested in this song) Walk on Water has 71 million views after 3 years These are all very small numbers for our days. These are not big hits. Venom has 477 million views after 2 years Godzilla has 355 million views one year later. River has 193 million views (audio) and 169 million views (s-----y music video) after 3 years. Only these three songs that I wrote above were hits. Venom became a big hit because of the movie (this song was less popular when the album came out). River became popular due to Ed Sheeran and Godzilla due to Juice WRLD. Eminem as a solo artist is no longer interesting to people. People do not follow the release of his albums and find out about his songs, for example, by hearing in a film or with a famous guest.
Apr 19, 2021 Okay. I kinda see your point. It happens to all rappers but Em is still huge internationally. He's still the most famous rapper overseas and his music still gets checked for overseas which can be proven by data. He's just not as big as before.
