  2. No, keep it where it is

Increasing it by that much would decrease the value of hard work and education .

corporations should be required to pay their employees $15 an hour

small businesses should be required to pay at their own discretion as $15 may hamper some of their operations ($9 is a fair floor for small biz's)

the idea that most jobs which make minimum wage or under $15 an hour are fast food is a fallacy, tho. house nursing aides for one on average make $10 an hour. that's not an easy job and they could certainly benefit from the pay raise

You do realize the small businesses are corporations... Right? Can you define a small business and how exactly do you come up with $9 floor for "small businesses"?

With every raise in minimum wage, the cost of living follows. It's all relative.

My local McDonald's is offering 10$ / hour to start with full time employee's which seems good enough for an entry level position that requires little to no skill.

And would decrease the value of everybody else's checks who makes over 15+ an hour since you know they won't be getting a raise or compensated in any way for the massive increase.

Oh? You don't think so? I mean, they kind of have to or there would be no incnetive to get the education/experience to work there if you could work at McD for the same amount.. higher requirement jobs will adjust.

Obviously they'll have to raise the wages for anybody making above the current minimum wage in order to entice people to go for those jobs but the question is by how much? I just don't see most companies across the board willingly raising all employees wages enough to fully offset the increase.

I don't think the obvious benefits to raising the minimum wage so high are enough to make up for the potential consequences. If I turn out to be wrong though and everything works out just fine than I'd be ok with that.

I don't think it matters about how much. The wage floor is so low right now we have EMTs in my city making 8.50 an hour. In order to get higher wages across the board, the floor has to raise. There's a reason wages have been stagnant since the 70's yet productivity has increased 3 fold. Wheres the extra money going? Not to you and I.

    I make 10.75 in ny

If my company was required to pay me 15$ I'm almost positive my hours would be cut dramatically or they would completely cut my job. 15 is too much but 7.25 is too low.

But it depends on state. Fed min wage should be increased I guess.

People don't realize prices are going to go up if the minimum wage does.

As long as I get a huge f---ing raise at my job. I refuse to make the same wages as a McDonald's worker. Especially that b---- who told me "we don't do promos here" when they had that $1 coffee. Whatever b---- that's why I was texting your restricted license-havin a--- baby daddy. Also I refuse to make the same wages as that b---- who didn't know what "40 McNuggets" meant. It means 40. Numbers are universal. You cannot be that f---ing stupid.

$15/hr is a respectable salary you can live off. Minimum wage sound be a wage you're not ok living with.
