I play when I'm in the pub. But nowhere near as seriously as it sounds you take it.

Plus why do Americans say "shooting" pool? In England we say "playing" pool because, you know, it's a game.

We say both. s---t a game of pool, play a gameof pool. it's the same thing.

I used to play quite a bit at school. I went to a delinquint school and they just let us play pool all day so we wouldnt end up in jail i guess.

I can't think of any other games that uses this grammar.
You don't "kick" football
You don't "throw" or "hit" baseball
You don't "s---t" basketball
You don't "hit" hockey
And the list goes on.
