Idk I just couldn't get into TC like at all

It might have something to do with IYRTITL being my first Drake project to fully listen to and f--- with

Nah I mess with it more than Take Care even if TC is the superior project. Sequencing was great and the only song I skip is 305 To My City which is nowhere near as bad as Make Me Proud :hov3:

Drake always seemed to safe of an artist for my tastes

Almost all of my favorite dudes are people who shirk catchiness for individuality, not that the two are mutually exclusive

But I just never really felt tracks like Take Care or Headlines, always felt too normal and radio friendly for me. Whereas with IYRTITL even the radio friendliness was in a really cool way I hadn't heard before. So then I went back and feel in love with NWTS as soon as the beat switched up in Tuscan Leather and I just coasted through the whole album like d--- it's finally clicking

I can't man I've hated it for so many years. Nicki's verse was cool but I can't stand that hook lol

Heard them once and can't remember what they sound like for the life of me

Keep in mind I'm not saying TC is bad or that the love is unjustified :whoa:, I'm js those were my initial opinions and I haven't done back to see if they change

i am not an alarmist/sensationalist who thinks hip-hop is ever dead or dying, but if anyone represents the death of culture, it's travis scott.

I like Travis's music (I'm seeing him and Thugger tonight) but you can't deny that it's derivative/blatantly bites other artists at times and that he's a s-----y person IRL.

Fair enough. I overplayed the s--- out of NWTS when it came out, so listening to it again recently reminded me how good it was/is. Mac Miller could have been an honorable mention and NWTS could have been in the 15-25 range.

Out of curiosity, how much if Owl Pharaoh have you listened to? I ask because, and not a lot of people know this, Travis himself said DBR is full of tracks he deemed to generic for the album. I won't deny that this is something he needs to work on, but sounding too much like Cudi and Ye at times isn't the worst knock against an artist, y'know

And as far as the s-----y person thing, I never like to judge people I don't know; BUT i will say that the main knock against him in that regard is what that one former manager said, and if that's your source I'm just gonna say that being salty that your upstart talent ditched you and went on to work with half the rap game will make you say s---, and I honestly doubt Travis left him during the seizure and stole those beats like he claims

there are a lot of other albums we overlooked that i think deserve a "real" spot than nwts.

and id take those mac miller projects i mentioned over nwts tbh

Pls tell me who he's biting on Naked. Or Drive. Or Grey. Or Drugs You Should Try. Or Meadow Creek.

Edit: and I'm not being some salty Stan btw, I legitimately want to have an intelligent debate on this
