    I'm so f---ing sad about this. One of the best artists of all time, this is not up for debate. I'm so glad he had the chance to release Blackstar before we lost him - what a creative, vital, fascinating note to end on.

    For those of you looking to check him out, I think his two most accessible works are Hunky Dory and Ziggy Stardust. They're only the tip of the iceberg, but they're a strong starting point. If you don't like them, music might not be for you

    god hunky dory is phenomenal. brilliant artist at nearly every stage of his career. its not always discussed to the same extent as ziggy etc, but i love his NiN late 90s period. that and Changes were my introduction to him i think -- talk about disparity

    What a brilliant artist. So ahead of his time. I feel like "Blackstar" was the last project he consciously had to make before he passed. And thank goodness he did, its a masterpiece....

    been listening to a lot of his earlier work this morning. my favorite being love you till tuesday and there is a happy land so far. listened to space oddity, and listening to man who sold the world right now. Hunky Dory for the first time next.

    its always bittersweet when someone's passing is what has you finally going through their work.

    Hunky Dory is another planet compared to the stuff you've listened to so far. Space Oddity is a mediocre record only noteworthy for that title track, and The Man Who Sold the World is good (again, h--- of a title track) but not one of his best. HD was a true breakthrough

    when I woke up and heard the news I went to put Ziggy Stardust in the player, I took out Scary Monsters which I was listening to for the past 2 days
