DS2 is easily, without a doubt, my favorite rap album since MBDTF. I also think it is probably the most influential rap album in the past 5 or so years, far more so than TPAB in terms of its impact on the sound of new popular artists and recently established ones. Its a classic in my opinion and still sounds just as good. Plenty of lines, verses, hooks and beats that will get stuck in your head. Not one song sounds out of place either.
But, I can see this album not appealing to non americans and 3rd worlders, as future is accented as f--- and full of lingo.

Masterpiece, every song is Future at his best. You get Future both reveling in his anger and in his pain, his best emotions.
It's so fkn good I can't stress this enough.
Can't decide if I'd rate it over Monster but they are neck and neck to me.
Favourites are Thought It Was a Drought, The Percocet & Stripper Joint, Rich $ex, Colossal, etc.

From Monster to Beast Mode to 56 Nights and a litany of high-profile, show-stealing guest appearances, the the hype building up to DS2 was immense. Waiting for this album to drop felt like I was back in the 2000’s waiting for new Eminem or Lil Wayne. And Future did not disappoint, crafting, in my opinion, one of the most important and influential albums of the decade. Almost exclusively produced by Metro Boomin (who arguably produced the best batch of instrumentals of his entire career on this), DS2 takes the heart-wrenching sorrow of Monster, the playful debauchery of Beast Mode and the all-out trap-fest that was 56 Nights and brings it all together for the ultimate, clinical trap masterpiece. To be fair, its not as good as Monster, which is essentially perfect. Theres'a a slight lag in the middle of the album (Freak Hoe, Rotation) where things get a little repetitive. But besides from that, if you allow yourself to dive into the pool of codeine head-first, you'll find one of the darkest, murkiest, emotional and simultaneously energetic (Groupies is the definition of slap) albums in recent memory.
Also, “I just f----- your b---- in some Gucci flip flops” is the most iconic opening line of the 2010s. Maybe of all time.
I give it an 8.5/10.

Haven't listened to this in years but it used to be a personal favourite. It's cool to look back on the themes of this album considering what the internet has become.
I think I would still consider this his best album, with Awaken My Love being a close second. One of my favourite things about this album is the thought and effort you can tell he put into it. Some of it doesn't land as well, but it's worth appreciating.

I first caught wind of Donald Glover from his role on Community and was surprised to find out he was also a rapper. Despite his (legendary) Spanish bibliotheca freestyle, he didn’t seem the type. I missed his debut EP and my introduction to Childish Gambino was on Camp, one of the most awkward, cringiest collections of music I’ve ever had the misfortune of sitting through. His follow up, Because the Internet, released 2 years later (and which just recently turned 5 years old) is a welcome change of pace. There are still corny lines a-plenty. And the album’s concept, while admirable, is a little all-over-the-place at times. But this is a gigantic step-up from its predecessor and really showcases Gambino’s versatility as a rapper, singer and producer, despite obvious Kanye influences. The project is broken down into acts, each of which works to varying degrees. The first few acts work well, but the later few tend to drag and get a little off topic and have some very questionable instrumental choices. Even though his career after this skyrocketed with his involvement in Atlanta, the genre bending Awaken My Love! and the incredible This Is America single (which I really hope is indicative of his music to come), Because the Internet is remains a relatively enjoyable album and an interesting milestone in Gambino’s career. I give it a 6.5/10.

Top Kast album to me. Dope s--- on top of dope s--- on top of dope s---. There's so many immortal music moments on this thing. Return of the G is an epic opener. People will forever get hype for Andre's second verse on Aquemini. Da Art of Storytellin will never ever ever get old. SpottieOttieDopaliscious is pure musical ecstasy, Slump is the best cruising song of all time and Chonkeyfire is my second favorite instrumental ever.

Absolutely love d--- so much. It’s an incredible and amazing album. I don’t really care for LOYALTY but I know that’s a popular song. It’s perfectly fine, there’s nothing particularly wrong with it, it just doesn’t do anything for me. But at least it fits thematically into the album’s overarching story and premise so I’m glad it’s there.
For me personally, I feel GKMC and d--- are Kenny’s 2 best albums. I’m not sure what my favorite song on d--- is, but I will say that FEEL still amazes me every single time I hear it. Its like I disconnect from reality and get lost in those verses.
For me, in a weird way d--- seems to get better with age. I think I appreciate this album more today than when it first dropped. This is probably because I’ve heard the lyrics so many times by now that I can easily follow along for the ride.
Oh and getting the legendary Kid Capri to make appearances on ELEMENT and LOVE? Beautiful touch, especially for us older 90s heads.

at his worst as a writer. toilet puns & made up romances that no one cares about, even when he gets autobiographical or self reflective, it's less inspired, uninteresting versions of s--- he's already done in previous, better songs.
and with his other bad albums (the Encore's & Relapse's) that have gotten better as he's managed to make even worse music, he at least had performative skill to back himself up -- gliding over the Rainmans & Same Song & Dances. here he's doin some awful deep voice gremlin s--- with an awful choppy delivery. he doesn't even sound good at the very least.
the music is at its worst, generic imagine dragons s--- & baby boomer rock hits, not much else there. at least the other albums had a few songs that sounded good that you could pick apart from the rest, but absolutely nothing here.
which is a pretty fitting description for this entire album. absolutely nothing here. 0/10.DKC, Buddha, Sav Stanfield and 1 other person like this. -

You should make a thread (after u wipe) about what’s the right combo of songs from revival/kamikaze that would make a 2018 eminem album good.
