Jan 8, 2020Nah man f--- that. I just checked and critics also praised this. Even those snobs from pitchfork liked it (not that I give a f---, but people on here seem to do).
Just because a few people here are very vocal about saying its trash, does't mean they are right and others are wrong.
This is no offence to the people hating it btw all I'm saying is that we had a handful of albums that are very popular on S80. There are gonna be a h--- of a lot more albums that are popular in general (or praised by critics) but will have this forum divided. That's whats making this fun, everyone being on the same page is cool but boring.
I don't see that as a reason to simply stop and move on to another, because this is gonna happen more than once.

The fiasco around this album and Anonymous' role in getting it to be released... wild times.
I have a soft spot for this album and really do enjoy it. It's not on the same tier for me as his first two albums but still a vast improvement on Lasers and F&L2 imo.
His career trajectory has had many peaks and troughs though. A massive 'what if' still lingers heavily around him on what he could've produced if given creative freedom early on.
Little Death, Dots and Lines, Mural, Deliver are the main joints I enjoyed the most.

I'll give this another spin when I get a chance but on memory alone I'll give this a 7.5 outta 10.
It was good, very good actually but justbsolutely not near the masterpieces that were F&L and The Cool. But the artistry was something else on this project, truly divine. You have to be in the right mood to appreciate this album.Fire Squad, Bojack, Michael Myers and 1 other person like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

this s---’s an art gallery in rap form. after lasers and f&l2, it’s hard to guess where lupe would go next. in came T&Y, expectations were exceeded far and out. some of the best production he’s rapped on ever. mural is a godly introduction, potentially one of the best intro tracks this decade. with the elongated tracks (shoutout chopper, dope posse cut) lupe gets more time to get his s--- straight. it’s more fully fleshed out than most of it’s predecessors and i truly believe this is his 2nd best album. one of my favorite albums this entire decade.

When this album dropped back in summer 2011 was peak life. I remember Otis getting premiered by annoying a--- funk flex and he kept running it back time and time again without finishing the song. NIP was huge and you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing it. I remember waiting around for it to leak, but they put the digital copy out first to stop that from happening. I also remember That’s My b---- leaking the same day MBDTF came out. Sheesh. Idk if anyone has ever had a period of better music than Kanye did from November 2010 through the summer of 2011.

Again, another album that I haven't revisited in a long while. Though it's triumphant and all, it's not quite at the upper echelon of either of their discographies. Definitely a monumental moment of the 10's.

Watch the Throne - 9/10.
I'd happily and easily rate this a classic 10/10 if Lift Off had been omitted. Real over sight that was to leave that on there.

I've found myself falling in and out of love with this album over the journey. The concept is simple but the raps are dense. Love the instrumentation and, it's nostalgia setting in, but the rollout for this album was amazing. Bring back the s80 blog g.d. it. So many good pieces lost in the abyss.
Anyway, I digress. Good album, steller album... outstanding even.
Still not Kendrick's best though.Bojack, Sav Stanfield, Fire Squad and 1 other person like this. -

Kendricks worst album, among all the critic bait, fake deep storytelling, and jazz melodies you’ll find a concept album that’s so confusing, it took weeks after its release for people to get the gist of it. Talking to a 2Pac interview might be the lowest low of Kendricks career. Replacing the superior version of I with the live version as a cop out to its initial negative reaction was a lame move. Wesleys Theory is the strongest track on the album, and almost seems indicative of Kendrick originally intending to go another direction. Yes there’s plenty of value from to p---- a butterfly, but it’s nowhere near the level of s80, GKMC, uu, or d---.
when the outtake album is better than the original, there’s a problem. Kendrick thought too hard on this one, it got too messy. 7/10Ordinary Joel, Joshua Smoses, Fire Squad and 1 other person like this. -

My least favorite Kendrick album, but that says more about the others. A little overrated imo because its trying a little too hard , which ruins the fun for me. Did have some enjoyable songs w These Walls, How Much A Dollar Cost. Not a huge fan of Jazz but he did a good job using it for this album. 7.5/10asvdawg, Ordinary Joel, Fire Squad and 1 other person like this. -

we could have a rating system from 1 to 5 (or 1 to 10) and then add up the points for each album putting in order of how many points they gotOrdinary Joel, DKC, Wreckless and 1 other person like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -
