Nov 25, 2015 intriguing. what is your work flow like? like is there a process you go through everytime you make a beat?
Nov 26, 2015 I always start with 1-5 melodies, all sample based, from there I arrange them in different ways spanning from 1-80 bars at a tempo between 78-93. From then I keep usually 2-3 melodies. Then I go to a bassline and track it. Then I go to drums, usually ripping drum breaks, chopping them up and making my own drum patterns out of them. Occasionally I'll go to my "drums" iTunes playlist which have thousands of hits in them. From there I put in other tracks like other drum hits, VSTs, or SFX. When I'm done sequencing I usually do a couple mixes afterwards, and then take a break from it and come back to it later to finish it up once my mind and ears are fresh.
