Feb 15, 2026 at 3:34 PM Yeah there’s several artists there you like. Honestly this is the type of s--- I’ve been listening to daily, just put in a more cohesive playlist. Some of these songs (like Diet Pepsi) I’ve been wanting to use for a while but couldn’t
Feb 17, 2026 at 11:21 AM RIpper Roo - The Good Ol’ Days Are Now… I was pretty hyped to get into Ripper’s new tape. Aside from the artists that I found through Danny Brown’s Stardust, I’m honestly pretty unfamiliar with a lot of the new artists popping off right now, so I figured that this could probably serve as a pretty good intro. I’m a bit mixed on “gold”. The vocals don’t really do much for me, but the instrumental (especially the breakdown near the end) was dope. I really enjoyed “Dark Thoughts”. I’m not really familiar with Tecca aside from “Ransom”, but this was pretty d--- good. Similarly, “DUN DI DUN” was pretty d--- nice too. I was already familiar with “4 Raws” because of TikTok, and it’s pretty cool. “ARNOLD PALMER (I FEEL LIKE p---- C)” is awesome too, and as can be inferred from the title, it really gives off prime UGK vibes with its sound. “Young Millionaire” was pretty dope too, and the run from it to “Midnight Sun” was pretty solid, with “Malvada” being a highlight for me If you would’ve told me in 2020 that I would be legitimately enjoying an Addison Rae song, I would’ve called you crazy, but “Diet Pepsi” is pretty neat. The rest of the tape was pretty solid too, and “IDK WHAT TO TELL YOU” was an especially good closer Overall, I had a pretty good time with The Good Ol’ Days are now. There are som great songs on here, and I’m pretty excited to see where many of these artists go next. I think that the especially strong stretch from “Dark Thoughts” to “Malvada”, makes the last third feel a bit less dynamic in comparison, but it’s a pretty d--- strong tape overall. Big thanks to @Ripper Roo for the tape and yeah FAVORITES: Dan Thoughts, DUN DI DUN, 4 Raws, ARNOLD PALMER, Young Millionaire, Malvada, brown sugar, IDK WHAT TO TELL YOU RATING: 9/10 @AOTWClub
Feb 17, 2026 at 12:59 PM Admittedly I could’ve gone waaaaayyyy more underground for this tape, but I’m considering saving a deeper underground exploration for another tape. A bunch of these artists on the tape aren’t even necessarily underground, and then you have others that only have like 100k monthly listeners. I thought it would be a good mix instead of diving straight away into more of the deeper underground sounds that not everyone will be a fan of. That could be a future tape That breakdown goes so f---ing hard. I wasn’t big on 2hollis’s vocals at first either but they grew on me eventually. Maybe the same could happen for you or maybe not I feel like Tecca kinda fell off for a while, glad he’s having a resurgence These 2 discoveries I gotta thank my YouTube recommendations for. YouTube has actually been coming in clutch with the underground artist recommendations, I would’ve never heard these songs without it. Now I’m always on the lookout for more. I’ve been bumping Arnold Palmer for months man I can’t stop. I see what you mean, that run of the tape felt the most connected. Malvada always be stuck in my head, bb trickz slowly infected my mind Honestly I recommend her self-titled 2025 album, it was one of my favs that year Thank you I’ve been wanting to use it as a closer foreverrrrrrrrrrr!!! I see what you mean. I did a lot of jumping around genres and vibes in the beginning then mostly kept it rap at the end. That definitely won’t be for everybody Thank you for the high rating Yeez!!
Feb 18, 2026 at 1:54 AM @Yeez @AOTWClub Jimmy Jazz - Pharmacokinetics! Always love Jimmy tapes so im glad to finally get a new one! Night Of The Living Baseheads was a cool opening. Performances are great and ill always appreciate some good scratching, heavier topic while still being a fun upbeat listen Flat Tummy Tea is dope, i gotta listen to more Freddie in general and Madlib is always dope. Freddie always is great with his flows and beat selection. Really loved the lyrics after the beat switch especially! Ive actually never really listened to Blank Face fully and i have no idea why, i love most of what ive listened to from ScHoolboy and JoHn Muir is no different. So smooth and Q has always had such a perfect rap voice. I'm always gonna be here for Earthgang appreciation, Swivel is so smooth and one of my favorites so far. Love their style of chill music, I wish Dreamville got better at marketing cause all of their talent needs more people listening. Theyre both great but Johnny Venus' delivery is so good. Happy to see another D'Angelo track in these, m--- and Red both go crazy and D'Angelo sounds great as always. I love my chaotic s--- but there is something i miss about simpler production thats just super punchy. I'm familiar with the cover of Maggot Brain but do not really know Funkadelic at all so this was a proper introduction, I adored this. The instrumentation is perfect and the vocal performance being equally good and laid back fit the track perfectly. Love when a 7min track earns it's runtime. I haven't listened to MGMT outside of the hits even though ive been meaning to, She Works Out Too Much is really cool. Love the vibrant sound, wasn't expecting this type of vocal production (this aspect in particular reminded me a bit of the band Blood Cultures) and then the chick comes on and turns it into a Parappa song for 10 secs its awesome. Parliament is a bit like Funkadelic that i know them but never listened, i wasnt feeling Supergroovalisticprosifunkstocation much at first but it grew on me as i caught the vibe of the song. Will forever have a soft spot for funkier sounds, gotta love music made to be this specific kind of groovy. Speaking of groove, Flying Lotus is so f---ing good man. Never heard this so this is a new Kendrick verse for me, he kills it and rides the beat perfect. I always think it's super interesting and a testament to how different his albums are that you can immediately tell what era one of his verses came out just from a couple seconds. The synthy droning outro is great while all the other instruments do the high tempo. One of my favorites overall so far. The Roots is another VERY big blindspot for me I've only heard a song or two and am overall more familiar with some Black Thought solo stuff here and there. This song is incredible. The production is everything i love about hiphop and everyone on the track kills it. Thought never dissapoints and Questlove is super talented. Ill never know why they spent such a sizeable chunk of their careers with f---ing Jimmy Fallon of all people. Faces is such a good mixtape and this is just as good of a selection from it. Mac and Vince work perfectly with each other and I always like the way they approach beats. Mac was so talented with immaculate production and beat taste. I know it's not for everyone but i always loved his singing too. RIP Zuu isn't one of my favorite Denzel albums but its still f---ing great which is a good sign that his discog really has become that impressive. SPEEDBOAT is one of my favorites off the record and for good reason, hes so good at making s--- catchy man. The hook and bridge are perfect and the flows are always so solid, its a good sign when the verses are just as catchy as the choruses. I really need to revist this project its been a hot minute! Love Zel Never heard uknowhatimsayin? So i wasn't expecting the hazier prod especially on the vocal processing but it really works with the sound especially with Peggy on it. Fun shorter track, Danny aint for everyome but when he hits he hits. Glad that hes still going strong. I've wanted to finally sit down and listen to Injury Reserve for years now. Bad Boys 3 is incredible, the beat is great and i love the aggressive mood on here. Giving me the itch to actually listen to the projects! RIP Groggs Black Sheep is basically perfect, never heard this Mick album but hes pretty consistent. This Statik beat is great and the way he attacked the beat at the very beginning reminded of 3k for a second which caught me off guard lol. Love laid back rap so much and ill definitely be putting it on my playlist. Looked it up and the James Baldwin and Kenneth Clark sample at the end is super inspired. I straight up know nothing about Nourished by Time other than that i remember this cover with a yellow flannel from a fantano thumbnail which makes me feel like a real loser LMAO. Love the lyrics on BABY BABY, something about the vocals scratched my ear in the wrong way. I love the beat and imma save it still cause I can see my first reaction being me not knowing what to expect and I'll absolutely like it more than i already do with repeat listens. Good closer overall and a very cohesive tape. Overall really liked this as always. Getting back into my rap mood lately so im happy to have a mostly rap tape hit the right time for me! Favorite Songs: JoHn Muir, Swivel, I'll Stay, Never Catch Me, Right On, Rain, SPEEDBOAT, Bad Boys 3, Black Sheep. RATING 9/10
