Yeah there’s several artists there you like. Honestly this is the type of s--- I’ve been listening to daily, just put in a more cohesive playlist. Some of these songs (like Diet Pepsi) I’ve been wanting to use for a while but couldn’t

RIpper Roo - The Good Ol’ Days Are Now…

I was pretty hyped to get into Ripper’s new tape. Aside from the artists that I found through Danny Brown’s Stardust, I’m honestly pretty unfamiliar with a lot of the new artists popping off right now, so I figured that this could probably serve as a pretty good intro.

I’m a bit mixed on “gold”. The vocals don’t really do much for me, but the instrumental (especially the breakdown near the end) was dope. I really enjoyed “Dark Thoughts”. I’m not really familiar with Tecca aside from “Ransom”, but this was pretty d--- good. Similarly, “DUN DI DUN” was pretty d--- nice too.

I was already familiar with “4 Raws” because of TikTok, and it’s pretty cool. “ARNOLD PALMER (I FEEL LIKE p---- C)” is awesome too, and as can be inferred from the title, it really gives off prime UGK vibes with its sound. “Young Millionaire” was pretty dope too, and the run from it to “Midnight Sun” was pretty solid, with “Malvada” being a highlight for me

If you would’ve told me in 2020 that I would be legitimately enjoying an Addison Rae song, I would’ve called you crazy, but “Diet Pepsi” is pretty neat. The rest of the tape was pretty solid too, and “IDK WHAT TO TELL YOU” was an especially good closer

Overall, I had a pretty good time with The Good Ol’ Days are now. There are som great songs on here, and I’m pretty excited to see where many of these artists go next. I think that the especially strong stretch from “Dark Thoughts” to “Malvada”, makes the last third feel a bit less dynamic in comparison, but it’s a pretty d--- strong tape overall. Big thanks to @Ripper Roo for the tape and yeah

FAVORITES: Dan Thoughts, DUN DI DUN, 4 Raws, ARNOLD PALMER, Young Millionaire, Malvada, brown sugar, IDK WHAT TO TELL YOU
    RATING: 9/10

Admittedly I could’ve gone waaaaayyyy more underground for this tape, but I’m considering saving a deeper underground exploration for another tape. A bunch of these artists on the tape aren’t even necessarily underground, and then you have others that only have like 100k monthly listeners. I thought it would be a good mix instead of diving straight away into more of the deeper underground sounds that not everyone will be a fan of. That could be a future tape
That breakdown goes so f---ing hard. I wasn’t big on 2hollis’s vocals at first either but they grew on me eventually. Maybe the same could happen for you or maybe not
I feel like Tecca kinda fell off for a while, glad he’s having a resurgence
These 2 discoveries I gotta thank my YouTube recommendations for. YouTube has actually been coming in clutch with the underground artist recommendations, I would’ve never heard these songs without it. Now I’m always on the lookout for more. I’ve been bumping Arnold Palmer for months man I can’t stop.
I see what you mean, that run of the tape felt the most connected. Malvada always be stuck in my head, bb trickz slowly infected my mind
Honestly I recommend her self-titled 2025 album, it was one of my favs that year
Thank you I’ve been wanting to use it as a closer foreverrrrrrrrrrr!!!
I see what you mean. I did a lot of jumping around genres and vibes in the beginning then mostly kept it rap at the end. That definitely won’t be for everybody
Thank you for the high rating Yeez!!
