Feb 15, 2026 at 10:15 AM March 27th is an iconic date in hip hop history. It’s the debut of Run DMC first album, considered to be the start of “New School” rappers. Where hip hop first fully transitioned from the funk sampled based style to production that allows for more street aggressive flows. Lyrical content started to become more of a focus rather than the party house style of the early 80’s. This is also a pivotal album as it’s the start of mainstream rappers post Whodini & Kurtis Blow to the more modern LL cool J who inspired pretty much every modern Rapper with “Swag” and flashy antics in his music videos. Also one of the first rappers to make songs about relationships in his songs. Eminem started loving rap during these years after uncle Ronnie gave a tape of “reckless” by Ice-T. NWA, Ice-T, Big Daddy Kane and LL were the rappers that created the Rap God Eminem.

Feb 15, 2026 at 2:37 PM People were saying Prodigy’s skills were falling off by 2001 due to the Jay Beef getting to his head. But I think he always stayed a top tier emcee. Just distracted. Jay won the beef by crippling his opponent mentally. Same way Jay beat Game, by not responding really and letting game beat himself with his own obsession. It’s a tactic that works on those whose ego’s cloud thier judgement and reality.
