Jan 26, 2026 at 1:03 PM Wreckless - Distorted Reality Second tape of the round, let’s do this My pre-thoughts on Distorted Reality were pretty similar to the ones I had about Jank’s tape last week. Aside from my GOAT Jerry Cantrel and Pavement, I wasn’t really familiar with any of the artists on the tape (aside from Interpol since they’re always brought up in music circles that I frequent), so I was going in pretty much blind. [Also, there’s been a big winter storm over here the past few days, so based off the cover, I figured that this would have a pretty fitting cold mood.] “Untitled” was a great intro. I don’t just mean great as in “this is good”, I mean great as in “incredible song, and a killer way to start the tape holy s---”. U need to check out Turn On The Bright Lights soon man. “Dispossession” was really d--- good as well. I don’t have much to say about “If You Are To Bloom”, and “Leader of the Pack” aside from the fact that I absolutely loved them. “In The Mouth A Desert” has always been one of my favorite cuts from Slanted and Enchanted so its inclusion was very appreciated. I was a bit lukewarm on “The Perfume of Decay” but I still thought it was fine. “Fine Again” was pretty good, and “Throat Locust” was a good time as well. I’m not too familiar with Jerry Cantrell’s solo work aside from Degradation Trip, but I thought “Afterglow” was pretty cool. “Open Your Eyes” was pretty good once again. The rest of the tape was pretty solid as well, with “Butterflies” (I gotta check out some more Wunderhouse),and “No One’s Deserving being especially notable. I had a pretty d--- good time with tape, and I mean it. This might be my favorite out of Wreck's tapes so far, honestly. Davina Michelle - Heartbeat amazing song. i listen every time it’s on the radio. love her voice and her lyrics are so inspirational and original. looking forward to hearing more from her 2. Tinashe ft. Chance The Rapper - All My Friends feels lazy and hollow. her parts and his. not a fan tbh 3. The Killers - Shot At The Night is there anyone who doesn’t like this song?? love the beat and they sound amazing as always! one of the last true rock anthems tbh 4. Bliss n Eso - Late One Night 0-2:45 grating, cringey, unlistenable. 2:45 onward absolutely beautiful and amazing!! super experimental and atmospheric. wonderful harmony! 5. Bebe Rexha - Blue Moon beautiful song, always loved her, easy to see where her inspiration to write the monster came from. britney vibes here 6. Drake & Timbaland - Say Something trash 7. Carly Rae Jepsen - Run Away With Me i don’t think i’ve listened to a crj song since call me maybe. i liked this! super relaxing and soothing and melodic. pretty! 8. Justin Bieber ft. Lil Wayne - Backpack wayne’s verse is great, for a freestyle, as always. my family lives in the same neighborhood as bieber in LA and say he’s a complete nuisance to everyone. not a fan of him at all 9. Eagles - Life In The Fast Lane not much to say about this that isn’t already out there. absolute perfection in rock n roll form. that whole album is legendary 10. Blxst, Becky G - Rewind never heard of them. didn’t understand a word they said, even on the english parts. beat very generic. not even dissing it just ain’t for me 11. Action Bronson - Actin Crazy not sure what to say about this. difficult to listen to. i appreciate why some people might like it though 12. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Soul To Squeeze not exactly dani california but i enjoy all of their songs. beautiful voice and beat. flea the goat fr 13. Kehlani - Nights Like This beautiful song. they’re both amazing singers. she really impressed me on nowhere fast and it’s great to see how far she’s come 14. Ozzy Osbourne - Hellraiser this was on repeat in my headphones so much when i was a kid. not to mess with the pacing of myers’ tape but i lowkey couldn’t help but listen to crazy train and shot in the dark after this 15. SZA - Just Us alright back to the tape! i didn’t like this song at all. sounds like it was made in about 5 minutes 16. Kanye West - Street Lights song speaks for itself i think. amazing vocals pacing beat mixing, no complaints. song is such a vibe. it’s nice hearing his cuts like this one, before the biggest fall off in music history great tape overall, my fav so far 8.5/10
Jan 26, 2026 at 2:33 PM Glad you liked it, man. I was kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel with this tape, trying not to reuse any artists and avoiding anything too generic. What I’ve learned in this group is that sometimes the tracks you think won’t click with certain people end up being the ones they love and vice versa. Thanks for reviewing.
