Yeah. The nasle voice was deliberately to sound like that for his slim shady character. He said in a interview once that slim shady lp was a concept album for the character. He never meant to stick with it. I'm sure the older he got the harder it would be to do.

I don't think there was an 05 album. s--- sounds like 'Encore', he was taking jabs at MJ on 'Encore' anyway @ 'Just Lose It' and freestyles around then.

Probably a track for 'Encore' that he decided went too far. Writing sounds too good for 05, but feasible for 03.

man listen to his younger voice on animals makes the vibe so much better, and like back then. I want a whole album like that. It's so much better than his current monotone voice.
It really feels like 20+ years ago. I never realized that voice and delivery had so much impact on me. I felt it always were the beats (which also could be better these days, but it's aight).
If the next album is in that Animals' voices, then it will be his best album since TES.
Now, after 1,5 years, I definitely can say TDOSS is his best album since Encore.

    We were bonding.

In Square Dance Eminem says he's 28. Was it recorded in 2000 or is it another example of him lying about his age?
But in Cleaning Out My Closet he says he was a baby in '73 so either he's not set out to lie, or he counts on listeners not counting how old he is?
In Soldier he says "til the fire inside dies and expires at 30" but he is 30 then.

You’ve said multiple times you don’t like me and could never be friends with me.

He turned 29 in October 2001. So that part of Square Dance must have been written before then, and I’m pretty sure a lot of it was written during the filming of 8 mile. (Sept 01-Jan 02)

Soldier was even earlier that year, so he wasn’t 30. I’d say it’s possible it may have even been written, at least partially, before his 28th birthday in October 2000.

He was absolutely right about the fire inside expiring at 30 though.

He has fire, you cannot deny that. Fire does not equal good song, but he raps because he wants to, that much is obvious. A 50 year old capable of Fuel and Animal verses. Thats fire.

True, that s--- was almost like clockwork @ 30.

He's had some great songs and verses and near-good albums since, but if we're all being honest, he hasn't made a truly great album since TES.

And he fell off exactly after 30.

    M'fker spit a self-fulfilling prophecy.

So all he has to do to make his best album since TES is to use the voice changer throughout? Sounds dubious to me.

Is there another artist so stuck in their past that they redo their voice, content, etc, to constantly try to recapture what once was?

I want to hear a 50 year old Eminem, not 50 year old Eminem trying to be young Eminem.

actually maybe yes. apart from what some consider overuse of homophones, puns, lists, etc, his rhymes are as on point as ever. maybe better than ever. now on tdoss, the structuring of the songs (not just as an album but the songs themselves) is much more traditional and comprehensible than it was from revival-mtbmb. verse-hook x3. period. that’s what i want. no wacky hidden features bridges refrains etc. production seems to be his biggest hurdle right now. most of tdoss sounds great but, and this is true even on fuel rmx and animals, which are his best verses in years, maybe in a decade plus, he’s still sticking with these super generic trap beats. if he could start using beats like square dance, taking my ball, fine line again, i think he could make an album that would definitively top sslp. a lot of people already believe tdoss topped sslp, but i think it would be absolutely unequivocal if he would just fixate on one style that he/we know works

bro actual 50 year old eminem sounds like zeus and bad husband. nobody wants that. who wants to be depressed af when they’re listening to rap?? i love that he’s finally trying to fix all the mistakes he’s made in the last 10 years

compared to kamikaze sure… and i’m not trying to argue, but that’s why i said zeus, not mtbmb. there’s a lot of great songs on there that i still play today. but frankly i’d be fine if i never heard black magic, fav b----, guns blazing, gnat, key, she loves me, zeus, those kinda nights, in 2 deep, leaving heaven, stepdad, farewell, or an alfred hitchcock monologue, ever again. and that’s almost half of the 2 disc set. meanwhile any other album i skip maybe 1-2 songs at most. even tdoss fizzles out in the 4th quarter. consistency is what he needs right now. whether it’s with vocal fx, which most people love btw, or whatever else he thinks will help

Unless he taps into his old personality, or aspects of it, I personally won't be motivated to make "best album since TES" kind of arguments. "Animals" is impressive for what it is but it's not Eminem, just a soulless simulacrum. Death of Slim had genuine Eminem moments but they're precious few and far between. More often than not these days he doesn't even sound like a real person with emotions. It's depressing.
